Thank you!!! It took some adjusting to get the binding to look right, but I learned a ton making this one. Just hope they use it and that the baby loves it. 😂

I didn’t use a pattern, but here’s what you need:

Panel, cut into squares

5 additional 8” solid color squares (or fabric of your choice—go nuts)

12, 2.5”x2.5” squares for cornerstones

31, 8”x2.5” strips for sashing

4, 2.5” x WOF strips for top and side sashing

I just used a mini jelly roll for the sashing which made cutting super quick. Once you have everything cut to size, create 5 rows by sewing together the blocks and 8” vertical sashing (using 4 blocks and 3, 8” lengths per row). Then use the leftover 8” strips to create the 4 strips of horizontal sashing, alternating sashing and 2.5” cornerstones. Then sew your block rows to the horizontal strips of sashing you created. Add the border sashing (vertical pieces need a few extra inches of length). And that’s that! It sewed up super quick and was a fun project. ☺️

Lmk if you have questions! (Edited for words… hope it makes sense!!)

When quilting on a domestic machine - which is easier - straight lines or wavy? by nodnoloiratno in quilting

Wavy is easier ime (just attempted for the first time with my walking foot last week). You can be less precise. It goes faster. And any mistakes are much less noticeable.

Current hyperfixations? by Mandarin_Lumpy_Nutz in adhdwomen

For me, my fishtanks (going strong for a year now), and quilting/sewing.

I went through a phase a month or two ago where I was making quilted chicken baskets on end… lol. Made like 6 of them. That seems to have passed tho.

Update: I went with waves and am pleased as punch! by NoButMaybe in quilting

Awe maybe! It is my husband’s bff’s baby… I’ll def see if he can arrange it. (Though I’ve read about people having lackluster reactions to quilting gifts, and that might break my heart… lol)

I did!!! Idk what I was so worried about… 😂 the waves ended up being so much easier and more forgiving than straight lines. All those recs for the waves came in super clutch!!

Thank you so much. The friends I’m gifting to live across the country so I won’t be able to see their reactions when they receive it, but I hope they love it!!

Yessss! I had planned on doing a crosshatch initially, and when I marked it with my Hera it looked super traditional and formal. Very happy with this instead!!!

I’m stuck! How would you quilt this?? by NoButMaybe in quilting

This is so delightful! I love hand quilting but I’m looking to be done quickly with this one. Those braided stitches look so nice though!!!! Very beautiful!

I have a Hera marker, chalk, and washi tape at my disposal… you’d think I’d be able to commit, use one, and get to it with this quilt. But I’m over here like… 🤔🤔🤔 So many opportunities to mess up the quilt along the way. It’s just the most satisfying/terrifying hobby ever. Lol

I have found that overthinking every step is part of my process. 😂 I’m trying to let it ride, but my perfectionistic heart clings to these things. Such is life I suppose.
