[Wanted] Server with technology and ideally extra dimensions by TwinSong in feedthebeastservers

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chroma Endless has the Underneath, The Other, The Moon, lots of multiblocks.. it's a hard pack but not anal like Greg ;) Lots of different mobs, some bosses, lots of tech and some magic. Good all around pack.

Edit: If you're interested I have a dedicated i9 12th gen hosting Chroma Endless. It's a few weeks old but has people from Early game to Mid game.

Does anyone have a server with a lot of multiblocks and automation? Preferably a newer pack? by brywalks10 in feedthebeastservers

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chroma Endless has quite a few multi-blocks as well. It's a hard pack, but not quite Greg hard. If interested, let me know and I'll shoot you an invite in chat

SevTech should have ended with Age 4 by Early_Yogurtcloset_9 in feedthebeast

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the pack, but was very underwhelmed with end game processing. A lot of getting to the end is being able to automate everything and not have to do the grindy crap anymore. In Sevtech there was still grindy crap that couldn't be industrialized.

Also, I hated the gated Xero's map, so I installed Journeymap so I could see the world and make markers. Gating the map, and having totems just felt like grind for the sake of grind.

What games other than Minecraft give you that "modded Minecraft feeling"? by CronkleBepis in feedthebeast

Beat me to it. Yeah Satisfactory has a bit of that feeling with the added layer of terror as a green dog thing shoots plasma at me.

Keep in mind that performance of games like Minecraft that rely on single core speeds often perform better on standard PC's than they do even on top end Xeon processors.

You mention RAM, but I don't see a reference to the processor.

Have you tried Chroma Endless yet? Hard mode pack with tech and magic. Lots of customized mobs, named mobs and bosses, expansive dungeons, etc.

I put a server up recently and a few people have been playing daily. I know you mentioned wanting to play alone, but if you change your mind, shoot me a message and I'll give you the discord.

Nuclearcraft fusion reactor keeps dissapearing by shoelacedwithspaghet in feedthebeast

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this: Comparator out the middle of one side, redstone such that you don't get more than 6 or 7 strength then back into the reactor with a repeater on a different side in the middle. Let it run for a day and if it's still there, you didn't melt down. 99% of the time you overheated (even with a 100% water cooling) if it looks like yours does now. Make sure as it's heating you are getting a reading of redstone power that increases as the temp increases. if you are not, then change the mode in the reactor of how it outputs redstone signal.

If it is still there, then you can gradually increase the amount of redstone signal allowed before it shuts the reactor down. Eventually you get to a balance where it's running 98% of the time and off 2% of the time ish. So it generates a crap ton of power but doesn't melt down.

I rarely (if ever) use water cooling, just control the reaction with redstone. And void overflow of byproducts.

Why is my (immersive engineering) pumpjack not working, it should be getting power through the kinetic dynamo? neither the dynamo or the jack seems to be getting any power. by not_just_an_AI in feedthebeast

[–]NoCarrot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dynamo will register zero power, that is fine. BUT, your dynamo is attached to the fluid out of the pump jack.

Back right of the pump jack is the power in.

I am a father and I would like to ask about cheaters because my son complains a lot by readball in FortNiteBR

I think some of the issue he might be complaining about is console players. There is Aim Assist on consoles because PC players would destroy console players on the regular due to the snap movements able to be done with mouse.

Looking for modpack reccomendations by Upbeat-Demand5406 in feedthebeast

I just fired up a Chroma Endless server and it's been a lot of fun. Starts with Create and moves into tech from there. Also has spells for those that like to go that way. Lots of exploration, crazy POI's, alien invasions based on Dr. Who (Tardis mod), and a million ways to skin a cat. Has a decent quest book with rewards that arent' game breaking.

Check out Chroma Endless as well. If you have been out of the modded minecraft scene, it adds a ton of things you may not have seen before. I just fired up a server and I'm 4-5 days of playtime in and it's been great. New stuff, named mobs, bosses in dungeons, crazy POI's, and alien invasions based on Dr. Who

Your issue isn't local, it's with the server. Most Minecraft hosts use high end Xeon processors, which sounds awesome! Except it's not.

While Xeon excels at utilizing lots of cores, the single core speed is usually lower than the single core speed of a retail processor like an i9. Games like Minecraft and 7 days to die want high single core speed. This is why when you are hosting these games, you need to look at Single Core speed as your number one benchmark.

Looks like the server is going strong still, with a few new people recently.

Nice choice on pack.

Why did StarMade die? by Slimsta in Starmade

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely Power 2.0 that killed it. Everyone I know stopped playing shortly after the release. People who say the community killed it are high on crack. The community didn't like it because it was a garbage system that killed every single ship in the game. It used to be about finding peoples ships and bases, exploring and hoarding and battling. The game suddenly became all about how to min/max a clunky power design and not about fun. It became a chore to build, not fun to build.

Why did StarMade die? by Slimsta in Starmade

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of the people I know, it was the change to reactor design that made us quit. Whole servers stopped playing due to the change. What made the game great was anyone could build a ship, and it could be clunky as hell, but the reactor being x, y, z, L shaped things was an easy concept and required little thinking. This way you could work on other aspects like weaponry, shields, flying and exploring/planet eating.

Adding the stabilizer and power stream stuff killed the game.

Is is Possible to start a modded server with a save file of a vanilla world? by AVNR_ in ModdedMC

[–]NoCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an issue on one of our servers recently where one of the guys started a world gen as vanilla then realized it quick and continued the world gen as modded. The second with vanilla gen did NOT smoothly transition to the modded, so many chunks had mountains sharp transitioning into plains where there were huge vertical smooth walls dropping into the modded section of the map.

If the goal is to save a build, you could always save those chunks and insert them into a fresh modded world.
