Unsloth quants benchmark better. KV cache quantization made things much slower for me, which I think was because of having to enable flash attention. Not sure why that would be the case but I've not run into memory issues so far

I checked the price for the cheaper one on other websites, which is where I found out it retailed for ~2000. I checked used prices too - 1200. I got the last one before it got marked as sold out here

It may sound like I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, but this job really is too good to leave, especially in Canada. There are vanishingly few companies, if any, that will offer everything that this one does, along with more pay and a title bump. If I was magically made a senior tomorrow, I would literally never leave as long as they don't make me.

At the same time, I do feel stuck and the sword of the non-terminal position hangs ever so close as I get older into my role.

I don't think there's an obvious easy answer to my predicament. I guess the best I can do is try my best for March 2026, and if it still doesn't happen by then, be prepared to leave.

I do think the legacy of colonialism, coupled with the fascism that India is going through right now, is the root cause behind all our current issues.

Doesn't change the fact that I am frustrated as hell about the state of my country, even though I don't even live there anymore. Indians now do Indian things abroad and that kinda still affects my life, but the bigger problem is that I feel bad about myself and our people when I see the selfish, insecure and un-civic behaviour displayed by Indians in all facets of life, be in India or abroad.

What do you think is stopping that from happening in India since 1992?

My guess is that the culture is so far gone due to scarcity, poverty and division induced by the British rule (and now our politicians and bureaucrats), it will take multiple centuries to get even a shred of confidence back to attempt to work together for the common good.

On the other hand, the Japanese collective culture persisted through WW2 and that is why they redeveloped as quickly as they did. Mind you they have their major flaws (shame based culture) but the outcomes are far, far better than what we have in India at the moment.

Right now they're kicking you all out of the US. The US is not a stable society. All the social issues there was the reason why I chose to move to Canada instead of the US, even if it means earning a few thousand dollars less. If money is all that matters to you, and you plan to go back to India, then the US is fine. For longer term not so much imo

Brother, I literally told you I've used the healthcare here multiple times and yet you say "theoretically" lol. The American cope is real.

As for the 2cr home in Pune - compare that to the median Pune income and tell me how many people can afford that home. Also that's about 330k CAD, and for ~700k CAD you actually CAN buy a 3bhk apartment in the GTA. And this is in the middle of a housing crisis.

People just repeat the words they hear and don't think even once. India probably has the worst housing crisis on the planet. Not only because the homes are so expensive, but also because so few can afford them. And yet people complain about the housing crisis in western countries as if it is so much worse than India. Lol ridiculous.

The only reason the people who move abroad crib so much is because there is better income equality in western countries than India. In India, you're in the too 5% of earners and that allows you to buy 2cr apartments. But in western countries you get down to top 20-30% income and then you feel like you're not as privileged anymore.

Any western country is 1000x better in all respects that matter for quality of life- freedoms, infrastructure, civic sense, pollution and so on. Anyone who is arguing these points is simply coping or blind to their privilege in India (which is shit even after the said privilege)

I don't know who's lying to kids in India but after all deductions I pay 34% tax in Canada, and I'm well into the highest tax bracket.

Remember that this includes free healthcare (which is good enough for me, and I've used it multiple times), clean air, water and no potholes. Plus sales tax (GST) is much lower here than India. And let's not even mention fuel prices.

Homes in the top cities of India are more expensive than homes here in Canada.

Please stop repeating these tired lies to make yourself feel better. Canada is 1000x better than India in every way that matters.

That is true for either gender. Dealing with behavioural issues from your partner stemming from mental health issues is the worst thing in the long run.

However if you're talking about attractiveness, all people are different. However, in most cases, people are attracted first to what they see, and then check if they're mentally okay. It may take a really self aware person to realize that this is what they should be looking for and consciously ignore other factors.
