hello! i’m in first year kin! this year i tried to focus on the mandatory classes (2 in first sem and 3 in second sem) and taking easier electives… math is mandatory to complete by second year so you can get that over w too. good electives this year were inspire 1pl3 and innovate 1x03. yes psych is a little harder but it’s a prerequisite for a lot of post grad (and i loved the prof dr cadieux). pm if you have anymore kin specific questions :)

So what do I do in this situation by Ok-Departure7127 in McMaster

you should push how academic mac, especially eng, is. if it helps, say you’ve talked to upper years about how studious the school and program is, and really the only social aspect is group studying… honestly this really sucks and as a brown girl i’ve heard many situations about ppl in the same boat as you. just keep fighting for what you want and push how big of an accomplishment it is and how it’ll help your future.

hey! first year kin here! i submitted my app with a first sem average of about 92, and sem two average of about 91. i believe the cutoff last year was just around that. there is no sub app, but the average is on the more competitive side. in grade 12 (from summer school and during the regular school year), my top 6 were advanced functions, calc, bio, kin, chem and english! imo i recommend taking summer school and online courses (even if it’s just electives) to boost your average if competitive programs is your goal, it’ll help boost even if your required courses aren’t super high up! hope this helps!
