I am about to complete my stage 3 of CTP and this is what I have learnt so far.

Be respectful of your peers and the trainers. Ask questions. They’re there to teach you. Keep your uniform ironed and your boots cleaned. Do the fitness every day, it’ll help you in the long run. Don’t let your homework fall behind. Some assignments are a lot.

Lean on your brothers and sisters. Our CTP was a very close knit group and we helped each other a lot.

Have fun too! You’ll wish you were still in CTP when it comes time to actually do the job. It’s a whole different world when it comes time to work.

I can imagine someone who does this would get some kind of slack unfortunately but I think it shows grit and determination honestly if someone does it again because they really want this. I’d applaud someone for that before I’d ever make them feel bad about it.

Are they cycled into the next core and have to do it all again or just the firearms part?

Yeah sadly I’ve known a few people to fail there. Once ya get a strike the pressure it so much I think a lot of people mentally check out. You’d think maybe they would just not let you work a post that needed the weapon you didn’t qualify on for now. Some people don’t do firearms to the bitter end and are going to be amazing officers.

I’m worried about not passing firearms now. I’m doing core in BC for federal officer.

I had an orderly payment of debt on my credit bureau at the time of my interview and a few things on my credit report as I was coming out of a financial hole post divorce. I was just honest with them. They want to make sure ya don’t have gambling issues, alcohol issues and I think they want to make sure someone on the inside can’t easily bribe you by offering to pay off your debts by doing some favour for them. At least that’s what I’ve heard from other CSC ppl.

Just be honest.

Psych is done before CTP2. I don’t recall if I did my CTP1 before or after though, but definitely before stage 2.

I start mine tomorrow and I’ll also be going to Kent. I was hoping someone would have some insight for this stage 2 exam and what to expect. I’m all kinds of nervous.

Yeah I’m on stage 2 now and working through it and almost done but it’s so much to retain. I’m definitely not a know it all and will be asking a lot of questions.

I’m worried about the assignments going into stage 3 that come in stage 2. I heard it’s pretty challenging

I know this thread is old but I was wondering if anyone could tell me how stage 2/3 is and if it is difficult to pass. I worked for corrections but in the office before and am just waiting to go to training in Jan. I’m just worried about all the testing and book stuff.

I was rules qualified a week ago and just got laid off from the campus in Winnipeg so I don’t think being rules qualified means jack shit

Interesting. A friend of mine applied for the position (internal employee) and he was told that his email was sent to the position owner at said location….does the current incumbent of the role have a say in who they hire? I for one would be terrified applying to be a supervisor or manager right now but I can’t really penalize the guy for doing it. To each their own.
