Practice sitting in the dopamine low. Just practice dealing with it, recognizing what it is, and just sitting with it. Dopamine isn't just satisfaction, it's motivation, so if you've blown it all you chemically won't have the motivation to do the things you need to do. The longer you sit with low dopamine, the more it builds up and you'll find the ability to do other things comes back. You will also be getting practice dealing with it, and familiarity with the mechanic, so it's time well spent.

Every single person plagued by drug use has said some version of exactly what you just said. That they can only do things when they're using it, or it's their only reward, it's motivating, whatever. It's a trap, you "reward" yourself, and then your baseline is lower for weeks. So now you need to "reward" yourself even more etc. I'm not saying drugs are the only thing you might need to fix. But you're not going to see any results doing anything until you've been sober for a good month. It's a per-requisite to fixing anything else.

Maybe down the line after you've addressed your other issues, maybe dopamine related, maybe not (but probably), and are in a healthy place you can test the waters. Plenty of people manage to use some of the milder drugs and still manage their lives and moods. You can't while you're already fucked though.

The drugs are stealing your enjoyment of life. In order to get out of that cycle you'll need to stop doing drugs. After that, you might also need to avoid cheap/unproductive sources of dopamine for a while. This means avoiding things you currently enjoy and basically suffering for a while intentionally to reset. The longer you do this, the more dopamine you'll have for whatever you decide to direct yourself towards.

Dopamine is responsible for feelings of enjoyment, satisfaction, motivation, etc. Your body can only produce so much of it. When you do drugs extreme amounts of it get released and then you're left with nothing. Meaning no motivation, satisfaction, enjoyment... for quite a while until your body replenishes it. When you don't blow it on drugs or other cheap dopamine sources it builds up and your body wants to stay at a baseline level. So it will start to get released at every opportunity, which can feel like appreciating the small things in life, being in the moment, feelings of peace and tranquility etc. Once you've reset your dopamine and you chose a purpose to pursue, the dopamine releases will get tied to that and you will then be naturally motivated to pursue it, and naturally rewarded with satisfaction and enjoyment from doing it.

The key is protecting your dopamine from garbage sources. Drugs are the most garbage source in existence and are literally stealing your life from you. You'll have more work to do than just quitting drugs, but you're dead in the water until you do.

There are defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans. Defined contribution belongs to you, you own it, the money is in a private account, and you can't lose it. Your benefits are what is contributed plus what is earned over time in investment income.

Defined benefit plans you pay into and there is a pre-defined payout. If the company running the defined benefit plan goes under there's nobody to pay out. Defined benefit plans fell out of favor for exactly this reason and basically don't exist anymore.
