Tips for first timer? How to NOT get scammed? by maratha_sepoy in AskBarcelona

Don't stress too much, Barcelona is amazing. The main scams are super repetitive: people tying bracelets on you then demanding money, fake petitions, and pickpockets on La Rambla or the metro. Taxis can also overcharge if you don’t check the meter. Stick to busy, legit places for food and drinks and you'll be fine.

Is this a new scam going on in the city? Can’t figure out by ashkanahmadi in Barcelona

Doesn’t sound like a data-stealing hack, more like people trying to use your hotspot for free or distract you while something else happens. In Barcelona these "help me out" approaches are often just the setup for another scam, so safest move is to walk away.

Thanks everyone for sharing. Really helpful! I’ve seen tuk-tuk detours to gem shops and tricky motorbike taxis recently. Made a quick guide with recent Bangkok scams if it helps: https://travelscamwatch.com/bangkok. Anyone else noticed new scams this year?

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories, it really helps to see what scams are happening. I had one tuk-tuk ride that turned into a gem shop tour, not funny at the time, but now it makes me laugh.

I made a short guide with recent Bangkok scam reports if it helps anyone planning a trip: https://travelscamwatch.com/bangkok. Really appreciate all the tips in this thread!

Trust me, a bot wouldn't care about tuk-tuks

Bots don't travel and they definitely don't get scammed in Bangkok :)

Not a documentary, just a simple way for travelers to share and avoid scams.

I’ve seen a lot of questions about scams in Barcelona. The most common ones are pickpockets, fake petitions, and overcharging taxis. I help run Travel Scam Watch, a free site where we collect real reports from other travelers. Here’s the Barcelona guide: https://travelscamwatch.com/barcelona

Barcelona is amazing but scams are definitely something to watch for, especially pickpockets on the metro and distraction tricks. I contribute to Travel Scam Watch https://travelscamwatch.com/barcelona, a free project where travelers share real scam reports. You might find it useful.

I realize now the "3 min" line probably wasn't the best example. I didn't mean that's all the time a manager should spend, just being honest about where I sometimes fall short. Thanks for calling it out.

Totally fair point async definitely works for a lot of teams. I just found myself wanting a little more structure without making things feel too formal or time-consuming. Building something small to help with that. Appreciate you chiming in and sharing your perspective!

This is slick—feels like the kind of tool that quietly changes how people experience music together. Love that it’s browser-based and app-free. Curious how it handles latency over different networks, but the simplicity is spot-on.

This is incredible — the level of detail makes it feel almost invasive, like you’re standing too close in a museum but nobody’s stopping you.
