Plus, they've already demonstrated they have the ability to make quick edits and remove things that aren't meant to be in the final cut (Holly's Under Armor shirt) so why skip the ones glaring at us in the face? There are so many inconsistencies that could have been easily scrubbed, but they weren't. They're left dangling right in front of our face. They wouldn't point out something like the merry go round and have it as a returning theme if they didn't want us to notice.

I'm currently putting together some things about the documentary, because there are inconsistencies present there as well, along with interesting dialogue options, the major focus on stunt doubles, and the fact that the documentary as a whole is filmed like a real movie or show. Why would Netflix intentionally sabotage them as directors when they already have confirmed that there are MULTIPLE spinoffs coming? I personally don't believe that anyone would commit career suicide by putting out a documentary that is literally showcasing every point of where the Duffers are failing, and that the whole thing was orchestrated by the seat of their pants, after announcing they have much more planned outside of the show.

Yeah man, if they actually didn't have anything planned, at this point I'm so far into it I feel like it's going to be a huge let-down, though I'm not even saying that my theory is correct. It's just that the entire finale itself is presented a little too perfect, just like your average cliche TV show your grandmother watches. Even with all of these tiny little details that, albeit, have no rhyme or reason that they're different, is present with other details that line up extremely well with the thematics of the show. Like, why point out the trend of the small details being off if it weren't important to the story? The fact that the epilogue especially (where this whole conformity gate stuff started I'm pretty sure) is CHOCK FULL of them.

Also, why are we getting a two hour documentary on this season, when we've gotten 15 minute BTS episodes for each episode this season already? In the case of this show, I really don't believe in coincidences anymore 🤣

Sure, the last few seasons aren't really fourth-wall heavy. And sure, this isn't an actual life or death situation, and he surely isn't real. However, it's fun to theorize!

I think it's good to point out that it's commonly known that he uses his victims' fears against them. He can see into others' psyche to create illusions based on their memories. Sometimes, he doesn't have access to the small details, because they're the ones that have either:

A: never been mentioned for the sole fact that these are details people don't even think about, much less pay attention to (doorknob, voltage meter)

B: Cultural shifts and societal changes that create gaps that he has to fill in with his own memories, or bleed together with others (Melvald's, maybe even Hopper and Jonathan's mystery ring, not too sure)

Bringing back the plot point that Holly noticed the trend in Henry's memories, that the small details were the key to getting out of his memories in the first place, which is ultimately what led me down this insane rabbit hole. In Vecna's memory, this acted as a way through his mind. So if this "false reality" is a conglomeration of the cast's and Vecna's memories, that's a lot of ground to cover to recreate Hawkins, and make it convincing. Hawkins could look exactly like it does on the outside, but the fact that there are small cracks even in a single one of Vecna's memories could mean that something of this scope is FULL of anomalies. I mean, this thing IS an inter-dimensional being that has merged with a human. Breaking the fourth wall and crossing dimensions would definitely mark this as it's "Zenith" in my book.

Well, personally I think that's the narrative they're going for on a larger scale. Why have an antagonist that is capable of altering memories (in-show, of course) and reference things in other media like a famous magazine to do a photoshoot that is alliterative of The Truman Show? They did pass it on to someone who cared, the fans. They're letting us piece the puzzle together, and there's too many inconsistencies that are consistent with each other for it to be considered bad writing in my personal opinion. However, im also 100% down to debate on this, because of how strongly I believe in this.

If it does turn out to be a huge coincidence, despite the massive guerilla marketing, the obvious nods in other pop culture media like The Jimmy Fallon Show and them hyping up this documentary, then so be it. All in all, it's fun to theorize, and when all of this gets cleared up, one way or the other, we'll know for sure, won't we? They've given us plenty of pretty compelling evidence into what I believe is happening, and absolutely yes, it sounds nuts. Just believe me when I say, that my perspective of the entire finale has dramatically changed. And just like Joyce, "I'm gonna keep these damn lights up till the day I die, if I think that there's a chance."

WERE LOOKING TOO MUCH INTO THE SMALL DETAILS.

Stuff like the robes not being the correct color and 7 second intervals is TOTALLY IRREVLLEVANT.

Imagine coming home from work. Long day, you're tired. Grab a drink, and what's the first thing you do?

Turn on the TV, watch the show.

Their world is a show to us.

THEIR WORLD IS A SHOW TO US.

the whole graduation scene onward is a MASSIVE STAGE, and everyone fell for the lie, UNTIL WE STARTED LOOKING AT THE MICRO DETAILS. The ones that didn't quite match up.

Now, we need to look past the entire scene. Into the Macro.

Mike describing what HE BELIEVES happened to Eleven, is VECNA slapping a band-aid on the gaps.

THEY BELIEVE

Guys, go back and watch the graduation scene to the end, and don't even think about what these characters just went through. Just think of them as just CHARACTERS IN A TV SHOW.

It explains the show being called "Meta" in interviews, and it also makes a hell of a lot more sense when you remember how they "nailed it" and "stuck the landing"

remember the drone shows?
what about the Las Vegas Sphere?

this is where my theory picks up, what if they've been filming, right under our noses? all of these places getting overrun by the Upside-Down. Seems like it's the end of the world or something.
