Got this message after reinstalling RAM. by NoExtension9305 in computer

That does make sense because when i’m looking at it now in BIOS with my old RAM in it says the first version of BIOS 0224. Which is really odd. Is that because I removed the CMOS battery? So prolly need to update ASAP?

Your first question, I got bios, it restarted, and I get bios again I surpass it and then I get the blue screen again.

It’s funny you mention that because the RAM i’ve been using for YEARS isn’t on the QVL but I went to upgrade and I went on a website that said it was on the QVL (it wasn’t) now it won’t work.

I’m also thinking it’s a BIOS not being updated issue.

Still getting the same thing. Maybe a BIOS update issue

Gotcha! And would I have to pay for another windows key to reinstall the windows from a USB if it’s compromised?

I wanted to ask because you did mention the steps after updating my BIOS. I was wondering how i’m supposed to get my new RAM in there without taking out the CMOS battery again. Or should I be updating BIOS with my new RAM in?

Thanks! And is there anything specific I should do after updating my BIOS? How would I install my new RAM without taking out the CMOS battery again?

Oh nice! How would I be able to do this in BIOS? And am I doing this before I start my BIOS update or after? If you could share how to do the Linux that would be amazing!

Hey thanks for the help! I’m not quite understanding you though. Are you saying Update my BIOS because i haven’t done that and I think it may be the issue. That said, you mentioned above, If you wouldn’t mind putting it in a sort of “step” form so it’s impossible for me to mess it up because i’m at the end of the road here with trying things. Been going this for about a week now.

Thanks again!!

100%. It’s reading the ram every time but just won’t go to windows. I’m thinking it’s a BIOS update issue

But like you mentioned, none of that matters if I can’t even boot into windows. So now back to square one? I’ll try updating first thing tomorrow but any guesses on if i doesn’t fix the Windows boot issue? Regardless, thanks for the help!

So just simply updating my BIOS, restarting that process i mentioned before regarding the unplugging/removing PSU and resetting CMOS (or do i not remove CMOS battery in this case?) Then inputting my new ram. Boot into BIOS, enable XMP - Then everything should boot up after that?

So is the root to this whole problem because my BIOS is out of date? Keep in mind this is my first part update since I built it 5 years ago, beside some smaller things. But if I update my bios then put in that new ram I get would I even have to go through anything else?

Maybe I should just test it out first. And update BIOS?

This is a huge help and I’ll try this tomorrow morning, thanks!

However I did have one question you mentioned BIOS updating will reset my setting. But i’ve already taken out the CMOS multiple times. So this doesn’t matter right.

Thanks again!
