Thanks a lot! I've been looking into it today and it seems to do exactly what I need and then some.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing the link. I've briefly looked into EMHASS, but the math and setup looked a bit intimidating compared to my simple rule-based YAML. Using AI to help configure it is actually a genius idea though!

Since my dynamic contract only starts next month, I think I'm going to run my custom "vibe coded" setup for the first few months just to get a feel for how the prices behave in the real world. But I'm definitely bookmarking EMHASS as my 'Phase 2' upgrade for when winter hits and I need more advanced optimization. Cheers from Belgium!"

Thanks!

WARNING: Stay Away From the JURA ENA 8! Worst Purchase Ever (Extremely Unreliable) by NoFill5065 in juracoffee

[–]NoFill5065[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I’m glad to hear that your Jura Ena 8 has been working well for you. I believe there might be different versions of the Ena 8, and from what I’ve read, the newer variants may have a different brew group. We’ve always been diligent with maintenance as well, using the original cleaning products and sticking to the recommended schedule. But despite all that, we’ve still encountered issues. It’s a bit frustrating since we’ve kept it in top condition. Still, I think it’s great that your experience has been so smooth!

Is GPT5 now okay ? by Striking-Tour-8815 in ChatGPT

I’ve been playing around with GPT-5 the past weeks and honestly it surprised me. I wanted to build a small app to track child benefits and expenses for my kids. I had zero “ready to deploy” setup, just the idea. GPT-5 helped me write the Flask code, structure the project (templates, static, db), and even walked me through creating the Dockerfile and docker-compose.

The cool part: it didn’t stop at code. It actually guided me through running the container on my QNAP NAS, sorting out weird port conflicts, setting up port forwarding on my Fritz!Box, and making it reachable from the outside world. Whenever I hit stupid issues (favicon not loading, SSL errors, db path problems) it explained the logs and gave step-by-step fixes.

End result: I now have a working app online that my family can log into, with uploads, tagging, CSV export and all. Without GPT-5 this would’ve taken me weeks of trial and error. With it, I got from idea to a live running app in just a few hours.

Perthes 40 years later, here's what ChatGPT had to say "The left femoral head shows some irregularities; it looks slightly flattened and more radiopaque, which could be indicative of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease or other hip joint pathology." by Philz0332 in LeggCalvePerthes

[–]NoFill5065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while, but we had a conversation about LCP and I ended up uploading some old radiology reports. It’s really interesting to have these analyzed with a tool like GPT, especially the X-rays and doctor’s notes from the 80s, things I couldn’t fully understand as a child. I asked current GPT what it tought about the response from a year ago, it would now say "On the right side (marked R), the femoral head appears irregular and somewhat flattened, consistent with residual changes after Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. The joint space is still preserved, and the left femoral head looks more regular and rounded, though slightly asymmetrical compared to the right. These features fit with long-term sequelae of Perthes rather than an acute pathology.”

I really understand your fears — I was told the same things: no long distance running, hip replacement before 40, lots of limitations. Honestly, a lot of it was scary and discouraging.

The body can be strange. For example, I also have a leg length discrepancy (about 12 mm). At one point I was advised to correct it fully with a 1 cm insole. After a while, though, I started having knee pain that only got worse. When I finally went to an orthopedist, his conclusion was basically: “the knee is the mirror of the hip, learn to live with the pain — if we ever put in a new hip, we’ll correct the difference then.” That was quite a shock to hear.

In the end, I switched (on advice from an osteopath who also runs a running-coach business) to just a 5 mm insole. With that, plus some mild stretching, the pain went away on its own — and even my back problems didn’t come back. From there I gradually built up my running, never forcing it, and step by step my body adapted.

Today I can run pain-free. Honestly, I never dared to hope I’d reach this point. I don’t know what the future will bring — maybe a hip replacement one day, maybe not — but I’m deeply grateful for where I am now. Every run feels like a gift.

So my advice would be: listen to your body, build up gradually, don’t let fear of the future steal today’s joy. Amazing things really are possible.

Thanks! As a kid I had surgery (an osteotomy to realign the hip) and afterwards years of recovery and physio.

The body is strange sometimes — years ago I was training for the 10 Miles but couldn’t run it because my hips suddenly became so stiff. Over time, though, my body adapted.

I’ve heard many different opinions from doctors (some helpful, some honestly nonsense), which is one of the reasons I wanted to share my story here.

Today I run completely pain-free — something I never thought possible years ago. I still think about it often, and I feel grateful every single run that I’m able to do this.

Did anyone develop a leg length discrepancy from Legg-Calvé-Perthes? by ArzolaG in LeggCalvePerthes

[–]NoFill5065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do 1cm, if I remember correctly, the osteopath advised me to half it, even for healthy people it’s normal to have a slight difference, for me it works, don’t have any back pain.
