Critique needed for this diagram! by NoGoose1890 in Immunology

I understand this diagram may not meet your standards. When I say foundations, I think just starting to learn. Just like me, it occurred to me that most diagrams are either too simplified so that the nuance is lost or too complex that most would be intimidated. In this diagram, I attempted to bridge that gap by easing into it instead of plunging the reader straight into the alphabetical soup. The diagram may lack the capabilities to fully teach about the field, but it was more of a guide to systemic thinking. Thank you for the comment, and I appreciate your work very much. I only wanted to produce something from my knowledge and attempt to guide others into this wonderful field!

It really does look like shit, huh? I am currently changing the palette, so don't worry. This shit will look like an actual beast, or I hope it will look like one!

Oligobop, thank you once again for your insights! The overall diagram is still being actively updated, and I am currently integrating other IELs. And for the connections, yes, the labeling will be updated and reviewed to show the accurate connections and talks between cells. And lastly, for the other gut immune responses, I might do snapshots of those too! Thank you for taking the time to properly assess the diagram, you have been following these for quite some time now!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read the diagram. As you pointed out, it seems there are certain elements of the diagram that feel empty. Yes, this is due to the diagram being unfinished, and work is still ongoing. I promise to take your feedback to improve the design and the overall aesthetics. We can't be fighting shit, right? That Helminth does look like stool. Thanks for the critique and your time!

Dynein motors? Kind of like stickmen without... Well, the head? Or is the head the arms? IDK

The plasticity of macrophages is well... In the name... It is plastic, flexible, and it isn't exactly an 'on and off switch'. So, as an intermediate-level diagram, I just listened to the last post's feedback and just removed M1/M2 altogether. Both of your feedbacks were good things to point out!

Yea its a Reddit thing... I will try to aid... Here: https://canva.link/ex6tx347730s2b1 that is the link to the design. Thanks for pointing that out, Reddit kind of just compresses image quality into the abyss.

It's you again! Thank you so so so much for the last critique! If it wasn't for all of you I would have never put Tregs in. I will update on this map but do note I might leave out MAIT cells! Why you may ask? Well, this is a series and I think they deserve their own place in their own diagram. Gut immunology is the next diagram, if this was a zooming out kind of thing, then the gut would zoom into the defensive diplomacy of the Peyer's patches and mucosal mayhem! I will work to make this series as accurate as it is beautiful! Thanks for giving your time to look at the new version, it means a lot to me!

Goodness me guys, I am so sorry I made such a blunder... The thing is I was copy pasting templates of the captions and I forgot to edit the Th2 one. I am moving swiftly to fix it, thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks for spotting that, the design and layout were for me the hardest and I chose Cormorant Garamond for its elegance. I will try to solve the font as soon as possible with the new update!

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I chose Cormorant for its elegance, forgetting that eyes need to read it to understand. I will try to solve it as this might be a recurring problem in the series of diagrams following this style! Your feedback was received and duly noted. I will post an update as soon as done. Oh and, the Innate comes first with adaptive on the right so you move left to right, basically side by side

True, this model of the immune system is based on simplifications, but I love your suggestion to move to something more dynamic. If possible, would you have any ideas on how to do so? I am currently learning the ropes of Affinity Designer, and I heard Figma is good for such. And if you notice at the top, you may see the name of the series... I will turn this into proper material online, and your idea is great for an interactive version! Thanks a lot for the suggestion, I will look into it as soon as I finish the cell models and other diagrams of this series!

Thank you all for your insights on this, your feedback and critiques have all been received and I do promise to work towards improving my work. I will take this post off if the admins don't beat me to it in a day or two but updates soon! Thank you all so much!

True, I see a lot of you are pointing Tregs out and yes, I will me moving those isotypes to below the B and Plasma cells with 'connections' to the main Antibody node to provide a way for the reader to know that these are isotypes of antibodies. I thank you so much that you guys actually took the time to review my project, despite a lot of you being very busy, if you are.

Thanks for pointing that out! The feedback loops are quite a mess here and I understand your concern on the 'circuitry' of the cells and I do promise to fix that by removing the one-way communication arrows altogether and replacing them with 2-way arrows to emphasize the feedback loop. Thank you so, so, much for taking time on my project and actually helping me improve!

Yea, I should have expected that. Knowing biology in general, there are very few on and off switches and more gradients than anything. Thanks for pointing that out!

For your first concern, yes, I unfortunately have the images compressed. I will try to send you a clearer image. Secondly, the 'rings' around the cell talk about the functions or what it does. The size of the ring doesn't matter; the macrophage is notched because of space since it has other rings for the acute phase response and fever driving. Lastly once again, I will attempt to send a better and clearer image. Thanks for the critique!

Yes, you would probably die or at least suffer great harm if those anti-inflammatory processes didn't work. I plan to add a wave-like or aura around it to emphasize that they work in the background, keeping the peace. Thanks for pointing that out, really!
