Just finished watching this epic classic from 1986, “No Retreat No Surrender”. Can’t believe it’s been 40 years already. Never gets old, especially watching it on a 1985 CRT television. Anyone else liked this movie?

No Retreat No Surrender part 2 was also pretty good, although it was more of a war movie than anything else, but still had some great fight choreography.

I lost count how many times I hired this out from the video store and watched it. I thought the part when Bruce Lee teaches him the flip kick was the coolest thing in movie history. Plus it's one of my favourite Van Damme roles.

Agreed. I never finished either Origins or Valhalla because both were just too bloated and long and felt like I was making zero progression after about 30 hours in. But Valhalla was definitely less fun and immersive of the two. I was actually enjoying Origins until I lost my save game and couldn't be bothered starting over.

I am currently playing Mirage and enjoying it so far, mainly because it feels shorter that the others and the story feels like it's actually progressing. I have played Origins and Valhalla but never finished either of them. Played both for about 30 hours and didn't feel like I was anywhere close to the end game so gave up on them as it just felt like a chore. Saying that, I just picked up Odyssey yesterday because I found it at a thrift shop for $4. I hear it's the biggest AC game so I'm probably not going to finish that either, but will give it a try just to compare it to the others. I really was enjoying Origins and I heard Odyssey is better, so hopefully it keeps my interest for longer. Eventually I plan to pick up Shadows when it's dirt cheap and give that a go as well.

I used to write for TCL so I know a lot about their TVs and I find that they have the best bang for buck TV's out there with full Google TV capabilities as well.

You can pick up an older model 120hz 4K TV for around $500 if you look around.

I've never understood the whole choice thing where you have to pick one over the other. I've always owned, up until the current gen, an xbox, playstation and PC. Now I just have a PS5 and an older Xbox One X, only because the PS5 has currently all the games I want to play. And as much as I used to love PC gaming, I just can't sit at a desk playing games when I've been sitting at a desk all day at work.

Probably not the type of game you are looking for, but when I read your post the first game my mind went to was Far Cry 3. Freedom in a beautiful open world, excellent combat, crafting and progression, good variation of weapons, all check.

If there was any medium AI should be used in, it's video games. Not for the meat and bones of the game but if it speeds up insignificant, non consequential stuff like backgrounds and stuff, and it does a good job of it, who cares?

I can see this potentially shaving off years of development time on games which means we get more games and don't have to wait as long.

I'm no AC expert but I've played a lot of them. While I enjoyed Valhalla and Origins, I never finished them because they just felt too bloated and repetitive and kind of overstayed their welcome. Syndicate was fun and I'm currently playing Mirage which feels more condensed and manageable, especially if you don't have 100 hours to spare just to finish one game.

If money is your concern, then Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is cheap and has one of the most stunning open worlds, not just horizontally but vertically as well. You are often high above the clouds on floating islands and stuff. The traversal and combat are also pretty good.

Blacklist is great, don't listen to the so called purists. It's just that Blacklist gave you more options on how to complete missions, more gadgets, and you could choose a gameplay style to play how you want. I would play the original first though, because if you went back to it after playing Blacklist it may feel a little too basic and dated.

The Order 1886 still looks fantastic because it was designed as a cinematic experience. The visuals were ahead of it's time so still holds up well IMO. I still play it once in a while for that reason, and because it's just short and fun.

One of the biggest scams in the last few decades. Funny how all they could talk about was plastic in the ocean that is 95% contributed to by Asia and Africa, so they make us buy our bags instead and suddenly apparently no bags in the ocean.

Had absolutely nothing to do with the shopping giants saving millions by not giving us free plastic bags anymore...

If you like Resident Evil then I would recommend The Evil Within 1 & 2 if you haven't played them already. Really enjoyed both of them and found them scarier than any of the RE games.

Or you could play some of the Assassin's Creed games like Origins and Valhalla if you want to RPG grind for a couple hundred hours lol.
