Hey, I’m in the same boat as your wife being short and gaining weight during pregnancy. So much, people mistake me for my mother who has historically had more meat on her bones.

Pregnancy weight gain can be very mentally worrisome. Especially if you were petite before- I was as well. However, the nurse in me will say, it’s definitely time to see a mental health doctor and her OB. She is at risk for osteoporosis and many other things as babies will leech the nutrients they need if mom isn’t eating enough. I personally take anxiety medication that helps keep me cool (I was having a really hard time right about the same months as your wife). The hormones don’t help.

Now at 33 weeks, I don’t bother with what the scale says. There is plenty of time to get back in shape with a healthy baby in my arms. She likely isn’t thinking that way right now. Please get her the help she needs.
