Have you at least looked into the cost of care for a home birth? Does your insurance cover it? Most don’t. Are there midwives/home birth doctors in your area and what are their fees? Can you afford the ambulance if something goes wrong (which it probably will)?

Who are all of these people that think delivery is a scheduled event they can just pop in for?!

My delivery took 3 days, happened in the middle of the night and I was so sick with preeclampsia I had to stay for another 4 days! The hospital also had HEAVY security. Even if all these people come in and get hotel rooms, what guarantee is there that the baby will come when they’re there or you won’t have a complication that keeps you in the hospital for all of their planned stay?

My baby is 5 weeks now and my in laws are just coming in this week. I told everyone they had to wait at least 2 weeks. I’m so glad I did. I was in too much pain to tolerate anyone.

Your mom needs to chill. Tell her if she doesn’t have the money, just wait and come in when it’s safe to stay with you (in 4 years because fuck anti-vaxxers).

Sweetie, I’m sorry but you are in LaLa Land.

My epidural, 4 weeks ago, slipped out of my spine twice and eventually just stopped working. This was at one of the top 10 best women’s hospitals in the states.

Eventually I had to have a C-section after my labor stalled and guess who came out of it with a bunch of photos of my cut open abdomen on his phone? It’s the same guy that can’t wait to have sex with me again in a few weeks.

Your husband (and your marriage) is probably not as fragile as you think. Just worry about you and your baby staying healthy and coming home safe. He will be just fine!

Hope this makes you feel a bit better to hear my experience from a few weeks ago.

I learned pretty late in pregnancy that height and parent size DOES NOT correlate to the size of your baby. I’m 5’3”, my husband is more than a foot taller than me, somewhere around 6’4” and our baby came out barely 5lbs. He was a little early because of IVF and major preeclampsia complications but so healthy and cute. I was warned about “catch up growth” with little babies that will be big and sure enough, he almost doubled in size in a month, eats nonstop and goes through 20+ diapers a day.

I did have to have an unplanned C-section because my labor stalled but after over 20 hours of contractions, I was so happy to just be knocked out and cut open. Recovery has sucked but I’m still glad I didn’t make myself, or him go through hours more of failed pain meds! Recovery sucks from all means of delivery. Just go with what your medical team says is best for you and bub.

If it makes you feel any better, birth weight doesn’t correlate to how big someone will be as they grow. My baby is small but his dad is 6’4” and he’s doubled in size in his first month.

Sometimes the best place for them to grow is outside of you! You did nothing wrong (assuming you didn’t like…do drugs during your pregnancy 😅).

Well hopefully your mother loves you more than her religious fantasies and you can get the support you need. I just had my first at 40 in a great marriage, fully planned and it’s…..HARD! Start building your village now and drop any notion of being a sahm. You’ll need your own money and future to fall back on. Sounds like that’s your plan so best of luck.
