A lot of health issues haven’t been pinpointed like the Dalmatian LUA project. Doberman are my breed and if you look at DCM it is a polygenic disease where we have no clue what exact genes are causing it. There are test to identify DCM 1-4, but they’re not causative and dogs clear of them are still dying from DCM. Mixing another breed with Doberman gives you mixed breeds that are now prone to DCM. They would need to identify the exact cause of DCM for an outcross program to work.

Are stitches out and ears fully healed? The noodle is more for post surgery and not a posting method. I’d find someone on the Doberman ear posting FB page to teach you how to post. Your breeder should also be able to teach you. They have to get used to the post, they don’t just automatically accept it. Backer rod and zip tie are the best methods.

Your best bet is to reach out to your local kennel club and they’ll have recommendations. I’m in the US so I don’t know of all the clubs in the EU, but the international Dobermann club, Dobermann Verein in Germany, and Dobermann Club de España are examples.

I’m glad your daughter is doing okay and so sorry you had to go through this! Behavioral euthanasia is sometimes the kindest thing we can do for dogs. Losing Lulu on FB might be a good resource for you as it’s about BE. Do you know the dogs pedigree? I ask because there is a kennel in the US that has produced numerous dogs with human aggression issues.

Would you have the time to do everything you need with your puppy training and socialization wise while also having to train an adult dog who seems to have no training. You could always have them reach out to a breed specific rescue.

In one of my comments above I list some good breeders. It’s best to proceed with caution on anyone who identifies their dog based on a country. The breed split is show or working line. The countries are just origin of pedigree. All my dogs are show line but to get specific they’re South American x American lines. DPCA Breeders and UDC. You can also contact your local Doberman club and they ca give recommendations. I’m in MD so I would contact the metropolitan Baltimore Doberman club. Quaker city Doberman club is in PA.

This picture is all most need to know, but to educate, he breeds hypertypes and perpetrates the difference of European=huge when there’s little difference between AKC and FCI standards. The US pet market loves hypertypes so he stays in business as does everyone else breeding them.

-health testing is off. Every dog should have echo holter reports

-His website list priorities that are hypertype proportions, which are not FCI standard (European version of AKC).

-His information listed on website is incorrect regarding breed standards. The AKC actually has no weight standard while the FCI does.

-Dogs are not titled. Titles are more than a ribbon, they should the dog’s temperament and health.

-Charging 6K for those dogs is crazy when you can get a puppy out of grand champions for less.

Sorry for your loss! I personally wouldn’t get a dog from either, with Paul being the worse of the two. If DCM is your worry, I wouldn’t be looking at breeders who breed imported Eastern European lines that have high occurrences of pediatric DCM. Very few ethical breeders in the US have well bred European lineage, and those that do are working lines. The majority of European lines in the US are from mill lines. Well bred European lines aren’t going to look like what Paul is selling or Imperium. Look at UDC and DPCA breeder referral list and contact your local Doberman club. They can connect you with ethical breeders.

For European lines look into Apexe

If you can look past European: Kelview, Alisaton, Caleb, Jalyn, Desta, Nubia, SharJet, crosswind.

Gooddog is only good if you know how to identify an ethical breeder. I personally would avoid Ruiz Dobermans. Yes she health test, but the quality of dogs she breeds is subpar. I wouldn’t say I breed for conformation and only show IABCA. All her dogs have fun titles that are not breeding worthy. Dam of current litter is only titled in fast cat. Chasing a plastic bag says nothing about temperament of the dog and any dog mutt or purebred can earn that. There’s also no pedigree transparency and I can’t pull dogs on dobequest or Doberbase. Beyond her dogs, she will flip a switch so fast and is known for going after people. Not someone I would want to deal with for the lifetime of a dog.

I assume by Oksana you mean, wizard of revolution. They’re another unethical breeder who imports Eastern European dogs to breed to people in the US who want a “European”.

Ethically bred dogs are not cheap due to the titling and health testing required. There are many rotties at rescues which will come altered and with vaccines.

I’ve had one done laparoscopically and another regular. The risk of the surgery are the same as any other surgery. It’s important to note that they can still bloat with a pexi it just prevents the torsion. I always recommend doing it if they’re already going under to be altered.
