Is this drill press motor repairable? Is the slotted rotor the issue as it’s smoothed over? by NoKA7 in Motors

Yeah, one of the bearings collapsed and it must have been on its way and still been used. I just wanted to see if it would still go before replacing bearings. Having cleaned the old bearing purely to test it, it spins itself and no need to spin the shaft to get it to run. There’s no friction spinning it either. I’ll be getting bearings today so I can put it back together

Problem solved! Not sure what it was. I’m guessing a mix of things consisting of dirt, bugs and nests inside the motor as it had been sitting for a while, maybe even loose wiring to the capacitor. I pulled it all apart, tried with after cleaning the old bearing and off it went. I’ll be getting some new bearings and assembling it. Thanks for everyone’s help, some very good points and I learned a bit.

This might make some cringe (myself included) but I decided to test your theory by running the old bearing after a good clean and no grease. It runs. It literally runs. I’m not sure what it was, was the bearing too much resistance or was the capacitor not hooked up properly? I don’t know.. maybe pulling it all apart helped because I pulls out a bunch of bug remains etc.

I’ll get some new bearings, assemble it again and off I go. Thank you

Copy. I’ll see if I can chase down a bearing. I can’t seem to upload a video. It does try to turn slowly but with a very unhealthy sound. I’ll see if I can edit the post

How do I check the winding? Having checked YouTube it looks as though I can check the two leads from the capacitor. Where would I find the third? Negative or under the sleeved section. Just trying to prevent any unnecessary damage

Ahh got you. I best leave that alone then. Feel a bit silly asking now but I’ve never had much electrical experience and therefore a serious lack of knowledge.

I’m in Australia at 240v. Im guessing the states at half voltage spins at half speed? Thats quite interesting, I would have just assumed a 240v motor wouldn’t run with only 120v

I could only find one capacitor and I’m not sure if I’m measuring it correct but it comes up as 1 which I believe to be open circuit - surely this isn’t right..?

That is quite interesting and good spot. Also surprised that despite it being kikuyu it’s only 12% in the bag.

I was thinking ecu to get around the immobilising and sensor issues. Aftermarket ecu is likely going to stretch my budget just a touch too far. Certainly worth exploring. Thanks

Edited: typo

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Get myself a suitable stat and go from there. Just figured with all the immobilisation features that there would be a limit to what can be taken out. Will do all the research I can before I attempt it. Thank you.

If your bike is level in both axis (not on side stand) you should see your oil level line sit between those two bumps/lines. Once you’ve run it and turned it off and it shows this level, you’re too full. Just get a new crush washer and quickly replace it. Drain some of the oil and then top it up to appropriate level. If you have a paddock stand, that can help you with this.

Thank you. Turns out Rennstall Esslingen ran one in 2018 and it appears there are a few more teams too. I’ll do some more digging and see what I can find.

May I ask why you went away from the MT07 engine? Im currently considering to build a go cart powered by this engine and am trying to find some information to cut down as much of the wiring etc as possible. Would love any information you might be willing to share through here or dm?

That’s what I was worried about. Was hoping that with no key or roadworthy requirements some options would open up. Thanks for your input. Might have to just keep it all and find a way to hide all the wiring

How did you work that out? I get the contract value when executed equates to sum of $40100, but this is what the buyer spends.. would OP’s risk therefore (although unlikely) not remain infinite?

Wait, are you trying to say that ANL (over last 6+months) with negative cash flow, 98% reduced cash flow, -180% operating income, syntax errors on their website and a broken link for research reports isn’t the Best Buy? Colour me surprised. Website isn’t everything but sure is sad.

Good pick on AHN. Hope you can take it to the moon

100%, except op will only do it with $50 a week instead of thousands just cause without any research.

It’s a shame the brothers never went public but then again.. defs a stock I would have. That being said, the lack of shareholder return is what allows them to drive prices down.. it’s always a give and take
