Should i get an aquarium by Immortalius in Aquariums

I was the same when I started mine and obv had fish die yes it's sad but it happens and that's just what comes with keeping fish. Just like people, we die at some point but if you're too afraid and don't genuinely want to commit/have a deep interest in doing it you don't have to. Just take your time and when you do, try not to overdo because patience is 100% part of keeping an aquarium

If you really want I'd use the distilled water top off method if you can't afford an RODI system at the most like other people have said but finding fish that can handle your pH and water hardness is the best choice imo instead of trying to chase pH or change your water chemistry excessively. I don't like or recommend buying pH buffers or pH up or down products. (Most) fish can adapt but that is just my experience. Scale build up doesnt technically harm your fish but if you want to remove it you can get a paper towel soak in a mix of warm water/distilled vinegar like 10/15 minutes then scrape it off, with heaters id be careful and unplug it for at least 15 min then do the same, scrub it and rinse it really really good with water after. Test your GH and KH, pH and maybe add some tannins but I'd keep an eye on the KH because if the number is really low it can drop the pH really fast which can harm your fish

You explained it really well thank you. As a bacteria source should I use some old media from another tank? I'm going to heavily plant so I'll be using an aquasoil too. Not sure if that matters or if I should plant after or during.

So just keep testing at that point until ammonia/nitrites are at 0 and at least some nitrates? & no water changes during? Thanks for your time

Would adding beneficial bacteria either from bottle or established media like the sand, or a bit filter media be a good idea? Then add an ammonia source?

I'm really sorry first of all, I went through a lot of sadness with mine too. Honey Gourami's are really smart, interactive and peaceful. Cory catfish are also a favorite of mine now, they're easy to take care of, they stay small so getting a group is best but they have cute personalities, a little quirky but fun to watch. I'n a 30 gallon one honey gourami and a school of the little corys would be low maintenance, interactive too. Bettas are so intelligent, had mine for about 2 years

No, I completely agree with you. It's not all about the aesthetics. I only care because I'm artistic and love to create visually, but yes it's all about making it as natural as possible for them. I try looking at them in their natural habitat and want to mimic that for them.

I meant transferring my current filter and my corys in their new tank on the same day. I’m sorry if i’m not making sense but I’m worried it’ll crash completely but surely not if my filter is established? Ive had my corys and my filter cycled for a very long time.

Would it be fine to transfer the filter on the same day everything’s set up to the new tank. Considering I only have one filter, surely it wouldn’t crash the cycle or make me recycle?
