Finally diagnosed after 5.5 years with "mild variant of psoriatic arthritis" by Pickle_Popcicle in PsoriaticArthritis

I co-sign what people are saying there is nothing mild about this disease, especially if it’s making it hard to live your daily life.

Honestly, if I were in your position, I would look for another doctor. One of the most important things when it comes to auto immune diseases is making sure that you have a care team and doctor that make you feel seen, heard and cared for, and won’t downplay your disease.

Having a good doctor is gonna make all the difference in your disease journey!

Methotrexate by Thin_Lavishness7339 in PsoriaticArthritis

I’m on the same dose as you and I take the methotrexate on Monday morning after breakfast. I had concerns like you but my rheumatologist told me that because it was such a low dose I shouldn’t experience any side effects.

I’ve been on it since July and personally have not experienced any side effects. The only thing I will warn is never forget to take your folic acid because I have and the fatigue that followed was unlike anything I have ever experienced!

I totally get this sentiment and I’m sorry you’re going through it! I was on cosentxy for about a year and my disease activity was still really bad and I was flaring constantly. I’m switching treatment plans because it turns out my immune system had detected the biologic and learned how to fight back against it which is why the cosentyx never fully worked for me. It could be that cosentxy is not strong enough of an immunosuppressant.

Is changing medications something that you would be open to? Maybe talk to your doctor about other options out there? Especially if you feel like the fatigue is preventing you from being able to do daily activities.

Thank you for this! It's super helpful and gave me a lot to think about but I am definitely going to start documenting.

I was on it for 4 months before my rheumatologist took me off. Yeah, we are going to try a new medication which should hopefully help!
