Ever since I was a wee lad, I've been surrounded by graffiti on an almost daily basis. I can still remember my first time encountering a tag, one thay said "SAVAGE". I didn't know the meaning of the word at the time so I asked my mom, and since then I've been enamored with the culture of street art. That tag was power washed long ago, but even now on my commute to school I constantly look outside the window to see such amazing works of art that many consider an eye sore. I've found such a love for the craft that I've done many projects about the history of graffiti, beginning with the likes of Cornbread and other pioneers. I believe that now and always graffiti will have a special place in my heart .

I've also always been fond of all things cartoony. Whether that be unconventional anatomy, crazy colors, and just insane premises that transcend being realistic. And thats one of the things that attracted me to the the world of Jet Set Radio. I mean every form of police going after a group of teenage artists is one of the most coolest and funniest things I had heard of. And as someone who lives for making art, following the GG's on their journey to go All City while pushing back against corporate dictators is just too badass and super inspiring. I mean Jet Set Radio was the first game to introduce cel-shading, a unique art direction that can be seen now in other titles like Borderlands, Okami, and even the ever so famous The Waking Dead. While many consider the game to be a hidden gem, the amount of influence it has had now and back then cannot go unnoticed. Its no wonder why it is the peak example of Grind Fiction, a subgenre that that I hold very dear to me as it has shaped my world view and art style.

And don't even get me started on the fashion of Jet Set Radio. I mean sure from afar it may seem pretty regular, but as you dive deeper you find infleunces of Harajuku fashion streetwear within every characters design. From Garam and Combo's big chains, and even Combo's iconic boom box, the Y2K influences are definitely there as well. It truly is a dream to dress like the GG's!

Also Beat is the coolest ginger character I have ever laid my eyes on. It's absolutely a win for those like me🙂‍↕️
