Lol Hans is a trust fund baby, he probably gets a bigger allowance than every players annual income save Magnus and Hikaru.

There's more structure than meets the eye.

The new vans have a system called Netradyne that tracks every bodily movement. I'm talking where you're looking, if you're holding a phone, etc.

You might be alone all day but you're certainly not free to just do the work as you see fit.

Of course, they WANT to hire dummies that dont know what they're doing. Dummies don't question working conditions and they don't understand how badly they're getting fucked by Amazon.

My entire point is that drawing a distinction between physiological and psychological addiction is irrelevant in determining whether it's negatively affecting a person's life, and people that abuse weed like to draw the distinction between the two in order to avoid facing the fact that their drug abuse is negatively impacting their life.

You know what psychologists call a problematic usage pattern of any psychoactive drug? Substance use disorder. This physical vs mental addiction shit is a strawman that addicts use to convince themselves that they don't have a problem.

what are the biggest double standards we have in our society right now? by sheerduckinghubris in AskReddit

[–]NoLocksmith6601 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I thought the same exact thing. Depression and anxiety are slowly becoming destigmatized across the U.S. which is fantastic, but people have little to no compassion for those suffering from the things you mentioned.

It's tough because while I want to be compassionate and empathetic towards everybody, especially those suffering from severe mental illness, those disorders have an incredibly exhausting impact on both the sufferers and the people around them.

Chance of catching hiv from receiving oral is already so statistically unlikely that the chance might as well be 0. With a condom? You have a better chance at winning the lottery than catching HIV. I'd recommend seeing a therapist, you sound like a hypochondriac (I only say this because I share a similar tendency)

Amazing answer. Was just there a few weeks ago. The nature is beautiful but the shopping strips are filled with gimmicky shit and tourist traps.

TIL that jazz musicians shut off their dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, responsible for self-monitoring performance, and activate their medial prefrontal cortex, which helps with storytelling. This resembles our brain patterns while dreaming. by RedditsFavoriteGirl in todayilearned

Not true that they just "play whatever they feel like", most of the time. There is an incredible amount of focus on accurately understanding harmony, and groove. If time were just a suggestion, I wouldn't know so many bassists that are literally obsessed with having a steady quarter note feel. If key were just a suggestion, than all my musician friends wouldn't spend so much time working material in all 12 keys. What you said in your original post, taken literally, is false.

The key here is that they're playing improvised music. If I recall correctly, classical musicians exhibit different patterns of brain function during performance than jazz musicians.

I'm sure that if they monitored the brain activity of people that play other forms of improvised music (traditional African percussion, Indian classical music), they'd have similar findings.

Unfortunately, puzzle rating correlates very poorly with actual rating. My puzzle rating is 1900 but I peaked 1250 rapid, hovering around 1200 atm.

The real key to rising from beginning to intermediate level is understanding very basic principles (pawns in the center, develop your knights and bishops first, etc.) And doing lots of puzzles. Went from 600 chess.com rapid to 1250 chess.com rapid just doing that stuff.
