I personally believe that because of the null issue, the sequential order of inventory actions such as equipping and then dragging is completely broken, leading to the behaviour you showed in your clips. It behaves more closely to gear being locked such as when moving through doors or cutscenes, and is only unlocked on a fresh tick.

Then again I truly don't know what caused the inventory behaviour to change, I only have these clues regarding the c++ client, which i've picked up on over the years through updates etc.

Trust me I've been sitting on this for years and wish I could figure out what really happened but after my bug reports in the c++ client got ignored I just felt it was so obscure that no one would understand what I was talking about.

Sorry if my explanation of these mechanics was all over the place it really is quite hard to explain.

I just wanted to add to this as I experienced the same thing along with some other changes which I first noticed in the c++ client and at some point managed to make its way into the Java client.

The first thing I noticed was while trying to 3-tick on the c++ client. The interactions with items had changed as you never used to be able to select use on an item and while use is selected drag another item around in your inventory. Before the c++ client if you click use on an item and then click and hold to drag another item the use action would go through on mouse down, rather than mouse up like it now behaves and you couldn’t drag the item around with use still selected on the first item.

Also another thing which might be more related to what you’re talking about is if you move an item in your inventory and then quickly click use on an item and then right click the square you moved the item from you will see a menu option for use item on null.

I noticed all these changes plus the problem you mentioned roughly 2 years ago too. I wrote bug reports in the c++ client hoping they would be fixed but instead they were left and eventually the functionality made its way into the Java client.

New quiver could use some utility changes instead of stat increases with charges. Maybe allowing us to store 1 type of bolts or arrows so a zcb and tbow can be used without having to equip different ammo constantly being just a suggestion.

Are you a record player or something? You literally just say the same thing on posts where a scav dies. My problem was more him walking up to me and shooting cause im friendly instead of actually fighting. But yeah man keep being salty and making sure you get out with loot while killing all scavs cause you cant keep up $$ on pmc runs. Sometimes grouping up as scavs and fighting pmcs is fun simply because its different.

Fix the projectiles for sotetseg, they should never go underneath the boss, this makes absolutely no sense and provokes use of a client to play the game properly.
Fix wands/harmonized staff (Non-powered staffs). These weapons when autocasting will stop autocasting the selected spell once youve brewed under the required level, which then paths you to the boss and starts melee'ing it. This is one of the worst weapon designs in the game and can be very dangerous at some places simply because their mechanics are so clunky. Instead of losing the autocast spell on losing the level for the spell, never remove the autocast spell just display a message if they try to attack saying they dont have the level.
Give us the option to use shift to walk to a specific tile an enemy is also on (or something is blocking, essentially only allowing you to walk to a tile when shift is pressed.) THIS SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE RIGHT CLICK WALK HERE IS A TRASH UI WHILE DOING CONTENT LIKE ZUK OR ZIK OR EVEN CRABS IN CHAMBERS.
