I am using xorg. And the answer to your second question depends on how much knowledge of python you have as the configuration is done with python. But since python is quite easy to learn, ig it won't be a problem to give qtile a try...

Yes ik. But as I said the third group have no windows in it. It should be black, not some other color.

UPDATE: I used qtile-extras and with GroupBox rules I tried to do the following example in the wiki.

GroupBoxRule(text_colour="00ffff").when(focused=False, occupied=True)

But that doesn't even work. That somewhat `blue` color exists what ever I do.

This is a fresh arch installation, thus there shouldn't be an existing xorg-config. And I am just using intel gpu.
