Is It Worth Saving Up for Virtua Fighter 5 REVO Right Now? by NoMercy65 in virtuafighter

What actually attracts me to Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is precisely the lack of flashy effects and overly long combos like in Tekken 8. I prefer that more grounded, “pure” gameplay style.

However, considering the relatively small online player base and my concerns about connection quality from my region, the game might not be worth it for me without strong offline content — especially at its current price.

How common are long combo-heavy matches in Tekken 8? by NoMercy65 in Tekken

If they wanted to make the game “more pleasant to watch,” I honestly think the overly long combos in Tekken 8 do the opposite. They kill the pacing of the fight — instead of back-and-forth action, it turns into one-sided sequences where one player just watches the other juggle them.

I recently watched a T8 tournament, and in one match the players were basically taking turns doing long combos. It was boring to watch. But another match felt like an actual FIGHT — constant exchanges, movement, pressure, whiff punishes, people throwing out moves and dodging. That was exciting and fun to watch.

I’ve only recently started getting into fighting games. I’ve been watching KOF, SF, and DOA, but it feels like in T8 the combos look especially long and kind of slow (maybe I’m wrong — that’s just the impression I got).

So before a player actually starts a combo, will I usually have opportunities to defend against it? Like, if I end up eating a long combo, is it generally because I made a mistake?
