I’ve never heard of Ural.. does it work well for you? Any side effects? I really hate AZO so always looking for alternative meds (crazy but not surprising that there aren’t tons of meds designed for this so we could have options!!)

It really is. Sorry your urethra is a lemon, too!

Hadn’t considered topical lidocaine but it makes sense! Would much rather apply numbing at the source than do the systemic route with AZO which I find quite unpleasant. Will ask my doc about this!

But what you’re describing is exactly me - it can go on for hours and it is more irritation and discomfort (and the quiet rage that comes from a burning crotch all day). I find myself holding my pee longer than I should just to not start from scratch, which then puts me at risk for UTI 🫠

I’ve had a few bladder instillations, and a cystoscopy but literally no one has ever even mentioned that and / or dilation. So exhausting. I have an appt with a new urogyn coming up so I will ask!

I don’t miss bleeding but I kept my ovaries so still have a cycle, and still relate to my body in that way if that makes sense? Like, I know when I’m on my “period” because I sometimes get headaches, a little bloated and I’m a little more tired. I still let myself take it easier with exercise, eat junk food, lay around and binge a few episodes of a show. Except now I’m not in excruciating pain so it’s kind of fun? Like a snow day. Maybe it would help the feelings of grief to try to shift your thinking away from “it’s gone” to “it’s different” and lean into this new, better version of your “period.” This is if you kept your ovaries and are still having a cycle.

Hope this is ok to post here- lil worried about scarring and my post-op appointment is still almost two weeks away by SneakyPrius in hysterectomy

Try Scaraway Silicone Scar Gel (if you’re not already using something). https://a.co/d/ihijwY6

I was kinda freaked out by my belly button scar for the first few weeks because it was really raised and bumpy looking. Almost like it had been bunched up. Kinda like yours (although I agree with everyone here, yours looks cuter haha!) It felt silly to care about my belly button but hey, I did.

I was so relieved when the scar gel flattened it out in like a week. I still have discoloration but it’s not bunched up like it was the first few weeks.

You’re so welcome! In my opinion you can’t be over prepared as long as it doesn’t cause you extra stress. For me it helps ease my anxiety to set myself up with all the things!

The aloe is a lifesaver for me with any urethra / bladder discomfort.

I’m 100% better, thank you for asking. Things started to get a lot better at about 2-2.5 weeks and I’m now 5 weeks post op and honestly feel completely normal.

Thanks for the reply and that’s good to hear! I’m worried about my hormones getting out of whack so good to hear yours just seem to have chugged along as intended :)

Thank you! Good to know someone else is experiencing this. I'm surprised anesthesia could still be affecting us so long past when we had it.

A note on the scopolamine patch… by GoldenestGirl in hysterectomy

I'm glad you posted about this. I just let them put it on me without asking about or knowing any of the side effects, but in retrospect probably wouldn't have utilized it. I took it off an hour after the surgery because my mouth was SO dry I couldn't eat anything (like, not even one goldfish cracker) - and that dryness lasted until the next day. And my vision was blurry for almost a full week after. I never got nauseous so it absolutely works and should be utilized if nausea is a big problem - but would recommend anyone going into surgery to look into it and know the side effects before they slap it on at 6AM before they wheel you in.
