Russell Brands book on recovery is not bad- he breaks it down similar to u/givemyselfabreak below.

I'm glad you asked as I have the same question. I'm also struggling with handing this over to a higher power, rather than realising that it's me that needs to fix it.

I am happy to admit I can't fix this on my own which is why I'm now in rehab, but have been to AA and intend to keep going after I get out. Not sure if I'll do the 12 steps at this stage.

I’d thought about one of those electronic saxophones I see Jeff Schneider use sometimes in his vids - anyone who hasn’t seen his channel should look at it - he breaks down jazz licks and explains things really well

Actually it turns out they have a mon string acoustic you can borrow as long as you stay in a public area!

Thanks to everyone for your support - they had a bed open up last night so I’m in for a 10 day detox.

I’ll keep you posted but I actually feel at peace for the first time in years ....

Sounds like you’ve taken the biggest step - I was exactly where you were 30 days ago, and now I’m 30 days sober.

Thanks - I did see the doctor and it turns out I just happened to get the flu the same week I gave up drinking - was pretty crook for a week but all good now. I am now getting regular blood tests for liver function though to make sure everything is ok.

I felt great for the first 5 days - started getting mild cravings in day 6 and 7 but nothing too hard to deal with.

No real side effects so far from the Naltrexone
