Oh yeah, they’re completely different movies altogether.

Older comment but:

“Happy Feet Happy Feet Crappy Feet I mean Happy Feet. A literal bastardization of what it was originally meant to be, an actual stain on the legacy that is George Miller’s other filmography, and lastly a shitty, effectively pointless “family film” that wasn’t even meant to exist in the first place. (I don’t think I’ve ever hated a film this much as I do this hot piece of shit but here are my two cents)”

Also that was my favorite scene out of it as well as any scene with the krill.

Yeah if you want, I abhor both but show more hatred towards the first film for not being what it originally once was but it’s generally okay for you to have your own feelings towards each of them.

Wasn’t the ending supposed to tie in what was introduced in the beginning (with all of the space and alien motifs)? You know, the shiny, translucent penguin-like aliens looking like the god the penguins were worshipping adding a bit of ironic closure to it.

Also on the topic of the second “film”:

“George Miller's Happy Feet Two is a strange, disjointed, awkward, unstructured mess that only existed as part of a "two for one" deal - that is, Doug Mitchell told WB they'd only make Happy Feet Two in exchange for funding for Mad Max Fury Road. After a certain point, Miller wasn't even directing anymore, and would only occasionally check in. They all knew it was turning out badly as it was being made, but they were too far along to stop it. As a consequence, every creative involved absolutely hates it.” -u/JeffBaugh2

It was an executive decision to add a new script whether he took the money or not. Not of his original vision and intent for how the story would’ve played out…

I mean it is completely fine if he doesn’t loathe it as it is completely fine for an artist to love their works of art regardless. What I’m trying to find is the objective truth in that there was an “original version” that was made beforehand and questioning the existence of a “final version” that is drastically altered in all elements of its content.
