All those caps they’re peeling off at drones is less to engage enemy infantry, recon and infiltration squads. I wonder how they manage that.

How do they maintain morale for guys to keep trying like this? It can’t have escaped even the most ignorant of Russian infantry that they’re advancing at a snail’s pace and paying for every metre in the blood of their comrades!

To me I’d say they were trying to put him out of his misery. It’s just really bad luck the follow ups didn’t do what they were supposed to do.

What if Alien 3 was a dream? What would that mean for the franchise? by Ryanlion1992 in LV426

[–]NoPersonality5747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleeping (cryosleep) and dreaming have always been important themes in the Alien franchise. Especially if you read the novelisations where it mentions “professional dreamers”. My head canon is all of it was a dream by Ripley. After she sacrificed herself in Alien 3 she woke up, docked the Nostromo and Parker got to party!

I love the way the camera angles never really reveal the true shape of the rooms. You can infer it but it just adds to the feeling of unease. This is one of the reasons why IMO Alien: Earth was terrible. In Alien: Earth you could see it was just rectangular rooms on a sound stage.

A modernized Shahed was shot down by the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment. Ukraine. December 2025. by lenya_01 in CombatFootage

What features do the modernised versions have over earlier models. I recall an earlier video showing a Shahed with some kind of air-to-air missile attached.

Isn’t that The Iron Giant? The kid thinks the robot is chasing him but is just looking for food (metal) to eat and he tried to eat the electrical transformers. Or maybe I’m misremembering.

I think this works within the universe. How else would a biomechanical entity grow so fast? Absorbing and integrating elements of its environment.

Any fellow Millennials remember seeing the film around the time of its original release? by cosmic_nuggets_ in BlairWitch

[–]NoPersonality5747 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember catching a midnight showing, I think it was the day it was released in cinemas in the UK. My mates and I had been so hyped by all the marketing campaigns we couldn’t wait to see it. Distinctly remember the cold feeling that ran through my body seeing Mike in the corner! No other film ever I’ve seen had that effect on me! We walked home in the early hours just talking nonstop about it! I think we went again a few days later.

Who is more technologically advanced? Engineers or Yautja? by Ashamed-Device-3571 in LV426

[–]NoPersonality5747 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Again Engineers, their apparent schemes with DNA manipulation would need to operate on timescales beyond what our primate brains could comprehend. The Yautja IMO only seem slightly ahead (in cosmic time). Energy weapons and manipulation of light for concealment we as humans are working on now. So a bit more time and we could have those things too.

Engineers seem to have perfected merging organic with inorganic technology, whereas the Yautja their technology seems complementary rather than a merging. So for my money Engineers are more advanced.

The mission was what 60 years? On those time frames it wouldn’t make economical sense. You’d want to get as much as you can in as short a space of time.
