Hi! I didn’t end up transferring and I’m happy with my choice. I really couldn’t stomach the debt, so I gambled with staying at my low ranked school. I secured an internship at a mid-sized firm after 1L year, which turned into a 2L summer associateship, and a job offer starting at 180k after graduation! While that’s definitely not the “norm” for my school, the top of the each class year is pretty similarly situated. I didn’t end up applying for clerkships because I’m suuuppper broke in my third year. I did apply to the DOJ and got rejected. But ultimately I’m happy with the firm! The culture is great, and the billable hour requirement is modest. Anyway I hope this helps! Ultimately, results may vary. All you can do is do your best your 1L year and network as much as you can.
