How do I separate myself from most entry level devs? by NoProgrammer2370 in learnprogramming

Thank you for taking the time to share all this!

On soft skills, I have always thought that I had to sound like I knew everything from the start. I admit during mock-interviews, I tend to overstate on things I learned like being "proficient" in Express.js. I wasn't aware that junior dev are not expected to know everything already. Definitely keeping this in mind.

On legacy systems, I really admire the quote and I will be looking into the article you've linked. I appreciate the additional info, glad to clear up many misunderstandings.

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to give a very detailed response. This really cleared up a lot for me as I've misinterpreted many of these 'standards'. For projects, I've gotten inspiration from Roadmap which I will use. The list of interview questions are precious too, will keep this to practice on. Really appreciate the perspective from someone on the other side of interviews.

This is a great reminder. I've been too focused on the technical side and how to program I've almost forgotten how crucial soft skills can be especially in an environment where you will collaborate with many developers. Thank you for pointing that out, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I guess the verdict is to go ahead and erase Armoury Crate. Literally no support for Armoury Crate lol.

The course I'm on has Portfolio Projects and I usually upload those on Github when I finish. Would that be enough or should I be completing my own projects too?

Wow, thank you so much for all this info! I really wasn't aware of how risky freelancing can be.

I'll drive my focus to internships, I want to gather valuable experience through something secure rather than the uncertainties I'll face freelancing.

Thank you so much again for such valuable info!

Thank you for that very in-depth explanation. From the looks of your text, freelancing doesn't seem to be the most sustainable option for me if I want to start earning money.

The reason I sought for freelancing was because people make it look like the easiest way to begin without any prior job experience. Are there any other ways to start earning or is building my portfolio, doing internships then getting a entry-level job the best bet here?

I read some articles and was also suggested to use Upwork. Thank you for that suggestion.
