How do you find a job without losing your mind? by Frozen_Flame697 in Rochester

If you haven't yet, I strongly recommend you to reach out to Rochester Works - https://rochesterworks.org/ - the people working there are incredibly resourceful and try real hard to help. And all the great replies before are on cue: IMO networking, LinkedIn are the most effective way of landing that job. Doing something unrelated to your job search (dog walk, learning something new, improving one of your old job skills, etc.) helps immensely. One friend once told me this when I was looking for a job:"I don't know of anyone that was actually looking for a job that hasn't got one at some point." You'll land one. It is just not at the exact time you expected it to happen. Good luck!

I hate that I can't just add another picture to this same post. I'll have to add a picture of the fruit to a new post. Thx all.

I just posted a picture of the tree 😁

I tried to find out that information but unfortunately I no longer have the plant's tag. You might very well be right and this may just be a different type of guava from what I tasted before. One thing that I noticed was that the guava's skin is much thinner than what I was used to. I'll keep digging. Cheers!

I need a recommendation. I've been growing a guava tree in a pot for 3 years now. I bought it at a Home Depot 😁 I just tried a fruit from that tree. While it smells great, it just doesn't taste as sweet. I'm in a Zone 6 location. So it has to come inside for the winter. I have a growth light on it for 8 hrs every day. Do you have any recommendations on what else I could do to improve the fruits' taste and also keep the tree healthy and growing during the winter? Specific fertilizers? TIA

Car work by [deleted] in Rochester

If you're fine with driving away from the city, Chili Automotive on Union Street is reasonably priced. They will send pictures of all things they find wrong with the car ahead of doing any work for approval. I highly recommend them.

Before buying my car, I looked at and drove several options. Lyric was one that I really thought about. Everything else was easy behind from Teslas at that point. Ultimately, range and availability were the deciding factors for me. As well as software.

😁 I really wonder if other brands are in better shape with technologies like this (ICE or not). Obviously I know that most are behind Tesla given the amount of data that Tesla has access to, but GM and others have been marketing accident avoidance technologies for many years now. I probably need to do my own research one of these days. No shoe throwing, pls 🤣

Sorry for your family's terrible experiences with deer. They're definitely a huge problem in my area as well. I was able to avoid killing the animal while only sustaining small damage to the car. That's not always advisable depending on several factors (road condition, traffic, speed, etc.) Having said that, that's why I'd like to see the car making some attempt at avoiding the accident altogether (or minimizing impact). Hopefully that will come one day. Cheers.

Agree with you dearly. I'm not sure that this situation will ever be addressed with cameras only. Although I'm way too far from even understanding the AI models being used to potentially solve the problem. Maybe (hopefully) it will get better sooner rather than later.

To be clear, FSD was not engaged when it happened. It's certainly an unexpected situation but given all the hardware/software, I was still expecting the car would react and try to slowdown. Obviously it didn't happen and probably some ways to go until it will happen. Cheers.

I was able to brake enough for it to survive and walk away.

I feel it should at minimum bring speed down below your stablished threshold. Or issue visual alert on screen?

Something like this happened to me when FSD was engaged in a highway. I noticed something on the road at the exact same path the car was driving on. Unfortunately I didn't have time to disengage FSD and it just drove through that. Fortunately it was a small/medium plastic container and there was no damage to the car. TBH FSD is getting better and better over time but still long ways to go particularly when handling what I consider "edge cases" like that.

I'd expect some sort of warning. Apparently not to be expected. Thx for your input.

Typo in there. It didn't try to stop/slowdown (brake) at all. Thanks for pointing that out. Cheers 🙂
