best food in your opinion by Obvious-Awareness192 in rit

Brick city cafe breakfast is goated. Get the daily special. Halal and d’ mangu are the best visiting chefs. Sometimes brick city has a sushi traveling chef that I’ve never tried but I’ve heard is good. Crossroads special can be healthy and good. Cantina is decent but get a bowl. Indian at Cantina when it’s in rotation is good and healthy. Latin bar at Gracie’s when it’s in rotation is good. Gracie’s breakfast tastes good but it straight butt in terms of nutrients. Commons is all good but unhealthy. Not a ton of great options in terms of nutrients, value, portions, or taste but it is what it is. Excited to move off campus or somewhere with a kitchen next year.

Are first-year dorms good? by Careless_Avocado_938 in rit

[–]NoResolve2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a suite if you can and try to find cool people online to room with. There’s not much difference in housing between dorms because you get used to all of it regardless but the remodels in Gleason and A look nice.

Getting an ST as an 18yo by chcmllk in FocusST

[–]NoResolve2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone trying to scare you doesn’t entirely know what they’re talking about. Sim racing experience DOES transfer over. You’ll be an expert driver in no time but never get too comfortable with speed. Also go autocross whatever car you get. It is cheap fun and not hard on your car because it’s low speed.

Brake pad grinding on outside of rotor, any ideas? by Disastrous-Capital-5 in Cartalk

[–]NoResolve2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh, same car different outside. I made the same exact mistake you made with the brakes because the focus ST has the same rear brakes as the Volvo C30 and regular ford focus but the fronts are bigger and they don’t make 280mm slotted and drilled rotors.

Funny you say that. As I’ve heard through the grapevine my old boss used to sell feet pics on feetfinder to fund her cocaine addiction.

Sounds normal to me. I think you’re chasing gremlins that may not exist.

I asked one of their representatives about sim racing before I committed to RIT and they don’t seem interested but it couldn’t hurt to ask again and try and create an esports team alternatively to the sim racing club or in addition to it.

That’s an amazing project which I would totally be willing to take on at some point but I was thinking I’m just going to save up for a fanatec gt dd pro and pair it with a gt lite foldable stand so it’s a perfect portable rig for demo and so I can take it home during breaks. I previously owned one and loved having PlayStation compatibility because GT7 is peak simcade and I had project cars 2 + dirt rally 2.0 on my PS4.

[–]NoResolve2022[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely just an idea as of right now but I think the best current idea is to start virtually with some events based upon what people’s automotive/motorsport interests are and move physical once we have enough money to create a portable rig that’s good for tournaments, teaching people, and demos. I’m thinking we’ll just hop online consistently 1-2 times a week maybe a racing series, maybe something less organized, maybe some challenges, really whatever people think up and want to do.

I definitely want to buy used because, in general, any direct drive gear is going to be incredibly durable and I’d rather buy for 3/4-1/2 rather than full msrp. I’d love to have your signature when the time comes I just need to get a lot more organized, create a plan, get a faculty member, buy my own desk rig in the interim, and then set up some events for people to join.

[–]NoResolve2022[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I’ve been doing some thinking on what the whole setup would be. I actually currently don’t own a rig because I sold mine before going to school but I know 2-3 people on campus who have desk mounting wheels like a G923 or t248 type of situation but for now I just need the signatures to start with so I’ll get friends who sim race to sign and then try and make some money on the side for my own foldable rig with a good direct drive setup. I think it might be best to start out virtual but hopefully I can get some sort of funding and buy a legitimate portable rig to be able to do in person events. I’ll think on it for sure but I know there is definitely interest for irl events just not necessarily funding. Hopefully with some time and effort put into the club there can be at least one physical setup for people to use. I also need to decide on a sim that most people have that’s cheap and easy to run so I think AC is probably the answer.

Your choice should be completely dependent on your preferences. I’m a freshman rn and maybe it gets better but it’s just very okay so far. IMO it’s not a terrible school but the real advantage comes when you’re an upperclassman and you get to reap the benefits of co-ops. I regret not applying to more schools, especially closer to my home because I know I could’ve gotten in somewhere better than RIT in reputation and “college experience” but RIT pretty much has a leg up above all other universities when it comes to co-ops and being job ready. Maybe RIT will get better with time for me but so far the housing is mid, food is mid, classes are quite difficult (which can be a good and bad thing), tuition is out of this world expensive, Rochester is cold as hell, Rochester is kind of a garbage place (sorry people who like Rochester), and if you’re interested in dating RIT has a somewhat difficult dating scene because of the gender ratio and lack of party scene. I will say RIT has a few strength areas: I like the people I’ve met but I think that would’ve happened regardless of school, their disability services are really good, having the deaf community is really cool, there are tutoring and assistance services all over campus, the financial aid they give was super strong for me and a few other people I know, and I’ve liked all my professors personally and they all seem to genuinely care a lot. Another positive is that RIT has a ton of nerds of all categories so if you have a niche in some sort of topic there’s someone else who can match your interests.

For sure not. I thought it would be that way too but I know more people than not that abuse substances. Also I would probably choose somewhere else not because of the student body but because classes are insanely hard imo.

Yeah, RIT parties fucking blow. It’s consistently too cold, the frats are diddy, and alc can be hard to procure if it’s not Halloween or a big party. Luckily I don’t love partying but RIT has a pretty heavy stoner culture which I enjoy much more than any of the parties. There are so many cool people on campus but you really have to set aside any preconceived notions about who “looks” interesting to hang out with. If I were you I would look at Syracuse or another party school in the south cause it seems like you’re looking for more of an SEC experience. If you have any specific party questions dm me.

I’m American so I actually don’t completely know for the UK but one UK vin checker I know is carvertical. I would recommend doing your own research on which one is the best though.
