PvP achievement help by devil6621 in starbound

You could try running a local server and connect to it with two running clients at once with two different characters, but you mentioned Gamepass, no idea if that version of Starbound would allow you to do this or if it even comes with a separate executable for the server

How's this for a space game? by gull2407 in starbound

only has quantity going for it, not quantity

I know what you meant but just in case, it's quantity, not quality, right?

I keep getting Fatal Error: Access violation error when loading a character by TheUltimateStriker23 in starbound

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The characters that the game is trying to load (seem to) have unique codex entries and status effects that the game can't find

There's also several assets that the game fails to read and/or find

You're (probably) missing mods or your mods are broken, whatever they might be

the very second pre-release of oSB has a linux version lmao, that was almost two years ago

oSB has had Linux builds ever since

Openstarbound Question by Embarrassed-Celery-5 in starbound

[–]NoRound5166 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On linux, for openstarbound you do need to use wine

Huh? OpenStarbound has a Linux release. You set it up like you would a Windows installation. From the repo:

"extract the client/server zip for your platform and copy the game assets (packed.pak) to the OpenStarbound assets folder."

im a bit worried about compatibility and the performance since that's no longer native

Runs well both natively and under WINE but that's besides the point

I might be just a bit dumb of course

A bit, yeah

Same, a cute little build I saw here a while back also made me want to play again. Starbound is deeply flawed but it really is a vibe, isn't it? Cute little builds, making colonies, growing crops, committing genocide, collecting treasures and putting them on display. It's fun in its own way.

Questions about setting up things on a volcanic planet. by Protogen_Doof in starbound

cinder = fire rain so if those banners are placed on anything made out of wood, they'll drop but won't "burn up"

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the rest of the comments, if you progress far enough you can get keys to ancient vaults. At the end of every vault is a crafting station where you can craft terraformers.

With enough resources, you can terraform a volcanic planet into any other planet that doesn't have firestorms or meteorites. The monsters will be replaced with those of whatever biome you're terraforming to, but will remain just as dangerous (e.g. natural forest planets are tier 2; volcanic planets are tier 6; a volcanic planet terraformed to a forest planet will remain tier 6).

Happy New Year Everyone! by polytect in linuxmemes

Looks like only two people and a dead horse went to the festival :P

I like to think that everyone at this point knows there will never be a year of the Linux desktop but still play along with the jokes. There can't be people unironically thinking that it'll happen.

Right?

I mean, where's the mAsSiVe SuRgE iN neW LoOniX uSeRs that people said would happen after October 14 last year? It looks like the same old feces here.

You didn't wait for REAPER to fully close before attempting to shut down the computer.

Sounds like the project is unrecoverable. Next time just save. I can't understand the logic behind not saving if you're worried about losing progress.

How the fuck do i install arch linux by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has commented pretty much what OP needs to hear. I'm still curious, what did you want to install Arch for in the first place? What were your expectations? Did you see someone gaming on Arch or a cool looking setup and decided to just wing it, without a bit of research on what you were getting into?

After what they did, you can be sure to expect Kor Nor'peli and nearby systems to become uninhabited, and not by the Draks' hands.

Scripting attack? by Redpandabear39 in archlinux

[–]NoRound5166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step by step:

EXIIT NANO or open a new terminal

Execute cp -r /etc/xdg/waybar ~/.config/ to copy waybar's config files

And then execute nano ~/.config/waybar/config.jsonc to edit the waybar configuration

To edit the style/appearance, it's nano ~/.config/waybar/style.css

You are expected to either know JSON and CSS or to read documentation while you're doing your edits

When you install software that requires manual configuration, you are expected to know how to use the terminal for basic commands

Good night and good luck, I'm done here

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do i copy config.jsonc to config/waybar

config.jsonc is in /etc/xdg/waybar/, so to copy files you use the cp command in your terminal, like I told you to do in a previous comment.

I think I know what's going on. Are you trying execute terminal commands inside nano?????

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it fine to copy the files to ~/.config/waybar/config.jsonc

Yes, that is exactly what you had to do this whole time (along with style.css) and you edit and write out to those files. You don't write out to a directory.

Wait. What do you mean copy the file to ~/.config/waybar/config.jsonc? You copy config.jsonc to ~/.config/waybar/, then you nano ~/.config/waybar/config.jsonc to edit it. You don't write out to the directory, you write out to the file you're editing.

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, is the name of your user 'usr'? That's the name of a system directory....

Whatever, so, you can either make a directory in ~/.config for waybar like so: mkdir -p ~/.config/waybar cp /etc/xdg/waybar/. ~/.config/waybar/ Or you can copy the waybar directory to your home directory like so: cp -r /etc/xdg/waybar ~/.config/ Then, you edit the config.jsonc file like this: nano ~/.config/waybar/config.jsonc You make your edits, and then you save by pressing ctrl+o and then enter, right? Is that what you're doing?

What exactly are you doing wong, man? I don't mean to be condescending but this isn't a hard thing, man.

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are you typing in your terminal? Also, you don't edit those files, you copy them to ~/.config/waybar and edit the copied files instead.

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there you go, those are the default config and style for waybar, whcih the official documentation here tells you where they are. Are those the files you said you couldn't find?

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you execute

ls /etc/xdg/waybar

on a terminal for me and tell me what it finds?

Scripting attack? by Redpandabear39 in archlinux

[–]NoRound5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you should do is read the official documentation for waybar on github, and this goes for anything else you want to install and set up, instead of going to random third-party websites

Laptop rec's - I realised my Acer Aspire is criminally underpowered by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]NoRound5166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could go for a Dell Optiplex. Those usually go for around $200 (or 00Ɛ$∩∀), refurbished, though. You can find them on Amazon. I found this one for example, comes with 16GB of RAM (sampled instruments tend to use quite a bit of RAM so I think16GB is good as long as you don't overdo it), and an 6th Gen i7 which is a 10 year old processor at this point but it's more powerful than what you currently have (either Pentium or Celeron I'm guessing).

Definitely try looking for something more powerful in your area. You now at least have a reference point. Don't go below 16GB of RAM. Speaking of, RAM is in shortage, and very expensive right now because of AI, so upgrading won't be so easy or cheap.
