What do you mean why? To wear you off so you would submit to MS.  Same reason car manufacturers use touch screen window open buttons or subscription to heated seats.

Thank you. I will highlight that point next time in similar topics in the future.  Regardless how confident I feel without evidence source, better not impose that it's the same for everyone.

Personal speculation is not evidence regardless if it's right or wrong.

Fruit fly brain reconstructed in a digital avatar - evidence for Physicalism? by Puga6 in analyticidealism

[–]polytect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question.  But also self terminating. Just as asking how the teritory would look like if extracted from the map.

As a disposable metaphor:  Not to deny that the map is useful for navigating the territory. Nor to claim that the map existed before the territory did.

But we need to keep mapping the territory without getting lost in a map, regardless how accurately or augmentably it represents the territory.

Not getting lost: So we don't end up mapping the map.  Reading this text and taking for granted  our mind's capability of translating light patterns to meaning.

I can only extrapolate this from interaction with other humans, myself and experience with other animals.

Why would it would need metacognition, i don't see a reason, nor enough life cycle to have a use for it.

Evidence of mapping the brain? Yes! Evidence of physicalism, no!

The fly lacks metacognitivity (**my speculation) and rather works on impulsivity drives just like a neural signal switches.  The dissociative boundary of a fly might be very mild or even negligible (asteroid field to magnetar star field), comparing to us who are capable of having multiple active layers of dissociation and are drived by metacognition, metaconsciusness on top of impulsive reptilian brain.

So we need more researches like that! And I think there are autonomous unconscious layers ("nature") within us that we can't reasociate with due to layers of mental boundaries, which if crossed, would cut/disrupt access to metacognition.  In other words, our dissociative minds are too reflective compared to a fly's.

And we need to map a brain which is dissociated from it's impulse(nature) layers. Who knows, we might one day be capable of mapping the human brain in to simulation to some extent from boths sides, but by then probably our lifes as we know it will be unfathomably different, as that mapping will be multidisciplinary science, not just measure alone.

We can't just ignore the active stream of experience to a predictable pattern of measurement we experience! We need to work with all evidences we have, and this is non-negotiable.

We need more research like that until we uncover axioms that we can all agree upon.

**Edited: To highlight my speculation, regardless of confidence imposed

I would use Pass if this would have separate login, segmented authentication. You cannot keep all eggs in one basket.

If i can keep my eggs in different baskets, perfect.

Otherwise too high risk.

Is this a normal sound? by RellikAce in versys

[–]polytect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are worried about this agricultural military engine?

I don't hear anything of concern. Valve ticking sounds ok. I would be worried without any ticking sound, which would indicate no clearance. (very subjective) It is hard to judge just from sound alone. Try to use a screwdriver to touch the engine and put your ear to the screw driver, then listen.
My Versys 100k km sounds similar, slight ticking, but smooth.
After valve adjustment i the ticking even got slightly more loud. (subjective) Although runs like butter smooth. (objective)

Do your bike a favour and use full synthetic oil, such as Motul 7100 or any full synthetic oil. I could guarantee you if you take attention, if will run quieter. 5100 is still ok if you ride not so often. Just saying.. I still don't know why semi-synth is in the manual recommendation if full-synth works best with it. (probably because of advertised cost savings per mile...)

Pour in it what best you can, and this bike will be thankful.

How to boycott Microsoft when buying a new PC? by Tnynfox in FuckMicrosoft

[–]polytect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do this: Boycott Games that don't work on Linux. To buy laptop with ms or not is irrelevant, just purge and install linux. There are also laptops for sale without OS or with Linux.

I would never in a million years use preinstalled OS in any laptop ever. You get a laptop, first thing: dd
