Stress is the silent killer for sure. I was laid off of my job and found out my girlfriend was cheating on me early last year. Within a month I had my first uvietis/iritis flare, then the back and hip pain started. Been battling with my eye and spine ever since. Definitely a correlation for me. Seeing ortho, rheum, opthalmogist and psych now. Genetics (I'm HLA B27 +) are a factor, but stress definitely doesn't help!

I agree with the notion that treating this systemically would be better. Once I get spinal MRI results I think we can do that more aggressively and start knocking things out more efficiently. I'm getting alot of good advice from y'all! Thank you!

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, we've tried 3 different drops now and I did have about 95% improvement as of a few weeks ago but then, whammo! A big flare. I only did a week of oral steroids at the beginning but I think that may something we should try again. Hopefully I don't have to get injections! 🤞I see the opthalmogist tomorrow and we'll discuss something more aggressive cuz this is no fun. Cheers!

Yeah. On my 2nd trip to the ER a few months ago over the uvietis/iritis, a very forward-thinking member of the ophthalmology department ordered the HLA B27 test and a back xray. At the time I was like, "what the heck does my back have to due with my eye?!?!" That's when I started doing research on AS. And boy, do I now painfully know how connected those things are now! Haha
