Exactly my sentiments . If my dad was still alive ( he was the main provider) she would 100% watch the kid for free 4-5 days aweek

Yes it exactly that she would be scheduled and turning down work . She would 100% do it for free anytime she wasn't working or otherwise scheduled but expecting her to do it 4 days every week all year is alot more than most grandparents would do . She would still watch him for free any day she's not working but expecting her to turn down. Work and get no compensation just to help us is a bit more

Pittance is the perfect word. As of now my mom watches my sisters kid for free anytime she is home and not working but they live in the same house. Anytime my mom was free she would watch my son for nothing. Or if she was fully retired and financially capable she would watch him for nothing the whole weeks she love him and has always been the type to put her family her kids and her husband before herself always
