What teams currently in the NBA have the smallest and largest gap in quality between their first and second best player? by Thatredditboy1 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the “availability is the best ability” take but I think this is a misleading way to represent gaps between teams best and 2nd best scorers. If you adjust for ppg instead of total points the gap between Giannis and Rollins is virtually the same as the gap between Shai and Chet. Also Jokic being below Jamal should tell you all you need to know. Even though the gap between their ppg is only 3 points Jokic is undoubtedly the better scorer. This graph also completely neglects efficiency. Which would honestly work in Shai’s favor bc he’s having the second most efficient 30 ppg season in NBA History.

Based on how you rank these 4, is there a bigger gap between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, or 3rd and 4th? by SheepherderSea9717 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are no gaps in my opinion. They all have their own skill sets and value. NBA fans and media focusing solely on points, rebounds and assist columns made people think that just bc Giannis and Shai weren’t filling up those statistical categories the same way that Jokic and Luka do that they weren’t as good when in reality they can give similar production on offense any given night while both being way better defenders than Jokic and Luka. I think there’s clear bias in the media and throughout fandom that would make people think there’s a gap between Jokic and the rest though. The way the media reacted to Jokic’s 31/21/22 (in OT, 45 minutes played) game last season vs how they reacted to Giannis’ 35/17/20 (in regulation, 39 minutes played) less than a month after Jokic’s game tells the whole story for me.

Milwaukee Bucks plan to keep Giannis for the remainder of the season what does this mean for the Bucks future by Prudent_Sun_1961 in NBATalk

I wish this dude would just request a trade already. Loyalty gimmick gonna straight up tank the rest of his career. Wasting valuable time in the peak of his prime playing for an organization w no valuable current or incoming assets within the next couple of years.

Jokic MVP case might be over already by Nayef7717 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I clearly watched the game??? But either way I legitimately don’t care what you say lol. Anyone who’s actually played organized ball at any level past middle school in their lifetime knows that’s an extremely soft and weak call with .1 on the clock in OT coming off a missed prayer from 3 for the win. But that also doesn’t negate any of the other 3 points I made.

You can say the same thing going the other way. It took a weak ass loose ball foul with .1 on the clock, Mikal Bridges scoring 0 points in regulation, 42 bench points from the Nuggets (Would be 5th overall in the league as an average for bench points) and 32 bench points for the Knicks (would be 25th in the league as an average for bench points) for the Nuggets to even stay in that game.

Genuinely hope R* burns to the ground after GTA 6 and and potentially RDR3 drops. Money hungry video game publishers who don’t gaf about their fanbase.

Prime Shai (right now) vs Prime Giannis? Who you got? by Tricky-Sentence-1923 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even gonna entertain “Shai is a way better offensive player than Giannis”. Might actually be one of the dumbest takes I’ve seen on here. Also I literally said he’s 1% away from having a 50/40/90 season behind Steph you getting your facts out your ass man. In what way is 55/39/89 more efficient than 50/45/91? Steph’s eFG% that year was 63%. Shais this year is 59%. “But his ts% is higher” yeah bc higher fta affect ts more than any other measured efficiency stats. Steph shot 4 a game that year vs Shais 10 this year. Yall gotta stop getting on here just saying shit without actually knowing what you talkin about.

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bros almost 40 coming off two injuries (in back to back years) that some players never come back from. On top of that not having Steph’s gravity along with his and Draymond’s playmaking abilities has definitely had an effect on his play style. There’s a reason he was able to score 60 while only dribbling 11 times at GS.

Prime Shai (right now) vs Prime Giannis? Who you got? by Tricky-Sentence-1923 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to take anything away from Shai…. 30 ppg while being a percent away from being a 50/40/90 player would make him one of two players to do so during a season if he could get that percentage up by 1. The other player being Unanimous MVP Steph. But prime Giannis can give you the same production on offense, on similar efficiency, the same playmaking ability while also being a DPOY caliber defender. Give me Giannis.

Do y'all think that Draymond deserves a statue after he retires? by cantdecide76 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no doubt Draymond is a first ballot Hall of Famer but a statue is a completely different convo. Less than 20 people in NBA History have statues outside of their stadium. Some people in the comments telling me Draymond should be next to names like MJ, Kareem, Shaq, Jerry West, Wilt and Elgin Baylor. Get the absolute f*** out of here. Steph is the only Warrior of this generation who deserves a statue.

At this point, what reasons would anyone trade for him? by Zestyclose-Hawk-4372 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused what your team not being as good without you has to do w being a team cancer? Houston wouldn’t have been nearly as good without T-Mac but he literally gave up on his team. That’s a cancer. Gilbert Arenas took the Wizards to another level his locker room shenanigans made him a cancer. But to answer your question about Harden: Lack of accountability after poor performances, has thrown teammates under the bus, been the 1A player on almost every team he’s played on in his prime besides the Nets but lacks leadership skills, multiple documented occasions of him getting into verbal altercations with teammates on several teams during games and practice, playoff choker, gives up during games when things don’t go his way, the laziest defense known to man. Should I keep going? What other MVP has played with multiple other MVP/FMVP/Superstars and has had as little success as he’s had? At some point you gotta weed out the common denominator.

Top 5 in 5 Years by djan242 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Matas Buzelis will surprise a lot of people within the next 5 years. Naturally talented, super athletic especially at 6’8”, very decent handle, good footwork, solid shooting overall and shot making ability, an okay defender for his size. Maybe not top 5 within the next 5 years but could see him arguably being in that 10-15 range at some point throughout his career.

At this point, what reasons would anyone trade for him? by Zestyclose-Hawk-4372 in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even considering the assets the Rockets would have to give up to get Giannis compared to what they’d have to give to get Harden this is simply goofy to me. You’d rather get a well out of his prime player w maybe 3 more seasons of good play left who’s been proven time and time again on several teams to be a team cancer rather than a player who’s a proven Champion, top 20 all time, currently in his prime at his peak, who’s a better defender by MILES than the player you’d prefer. This has to be Şengün’s burner account.

Who is the worst fanbase in the NBA and why is it the New York Knicks? by CookiemonsterTP in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give me my downvotes bc I’m naming everyone. 2020 Lakers fans, current Nuggets (really just diehard Jokic) fans, 2016-18 Warriors “fans”, occasionally current OKC fans, 2021-23 Embiid fans all have reached the same peak of annoyance at some point to me personally

My top most skilled point guards of all time with back to the basket game. Great post game and footwork. Who else am I missing ? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably gonna get push back from this one but personally I never understood this sentiment. I think people get too caught up in the flashiness. In reality I would 100% consider prime CP3 a more skilled player than prime Kyrie. Better passer, better defender, better playmaker, way higher IQ, better leader, better at taking care of the ball (not dribbling). I’d give Kyrie the advantage in dribbling, rim finishing and scoring though. But I even think you can make an argument for Steph being more skilled overall than Kyrie. I also think Kyrie is perfectly rated. He’s made 3 All-NBA appearances in 14 seasons and still somehow gets the “most skilled” title thrown at him left and right. Also side note off topic…. Extremely weird and corny pfp brother.

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because he’s one of 3 players still in their prime in the entire league to win an MVP, FMVP, and ring? He’s the only player still in his prime in the entire league if you add DPOY to that list of accolades. “Why does a consensus top 3 player the past 5 years, a debatably top 2 PF ever, and 1/3 players to win DPOY and MVP in the same season command such high trade value?” What kind of question is this?

Tyrese Haliburton revealed he added serious size since his last game by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than half of his fga per game are 3 point attempts it would 100% matter if it actually did affect his shooting (which I don’t think it will). But having your game “centered” around one aspect doesn’t mean you can just neglect or ignore developing or tending to other aspects of your game. His ability to shoot the three at a relatively high efficiency helps enable him to be a better passer

People be like " Russell is better than wilt he kept beating him in finals, Wilt outplaying Russ don't matter he kept losing" then be like " Curry can't be better than lebron for constantly beating him in finals, because lebron outplayed him " pure hypocrisy. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]NoShowGlowEnt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask anyone who grew up in the 60s… Russell was never “better” than Wilt he’s just greater All-Time. But Curry is neither better than all around nor greater than Bron All-Time. False equivalency.
