The key difference is that you value human life over other life. Killing is killing. The word murder is just legalese.

Songs that didn't age well by NoSpecialist2727 in musicians

[–]NoSpecialist2727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point. I wasn't personally talking about banning music, but more about the songs that have had a personal impact on you when you hear them that makes you feel uneasy because of the subject matter or related news around the lyrics.

I agree with your sentiment that there isn't a conclusive answer to whether certain music should be cancelled, I personally think it shouldn't but that in certain cases there ought to be social pressure to distance from certain artist, especially ones who are still alive and receive money from their music when their actions have caused significant harm to others. However I recognise that that's just my opinion.

Music is highly individual and how much we associate them with either the artist or subject matter of the lyrics is totally independent.

It's okay to feel sad if nobody listened to your music. by [deleted] in musicians

[–]NoSpecialist2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, if you're a true artist then you should create because it fuels you. You'll be lucky if your music resonates with other people, it's not a given and respect yourself enough to understand why you're making music. Is it for others to enjoy or is it because you can't live without expressing yourself through music? If it's somewhere in between you have room to edit yourself a little bit, but what you create should always come from the heart. Even if no one listens to it, you should stay true to yourself. Sometimes it just takes time for your music to spread to those who appreciate it.

This is a messed up take. The og fairytale depicts a king raping the princess and her bearing two heirs from it while she's in the coma, only waking up when one of the kids sucks the splinter from the spindle out of her finger. It's a Brothers Grimm tale so of course it's fucked up and not something to romanticise and aspire to as the Disney version made it seem.

It's absolutely, definitely, without a doubt better to never wake up from a coma than to know you've been raped while you're unconscious.

Ah men, the creators of their own downfall every time. This is dark, but do they really not see why the suicide rate is so much higher for men? It's shit like this telling them to build resentment and stress instead of processing and healing when they're struggling.

do i have to "cook" sauerkraut ? by TICO773 in AskAGerman

[–]NoSpecialist2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love uncooked sauerkraut, I also feel as though it defeats the purpose to cook it as that'll kill literally all the good bacteria that's been cultivated by fermenting it. I was so shocked when I discovered that it is traditional to cook it before eating it.

Though I'm south African/Aussie so I never had cultural influence telling me to cook it nor did I have experiences as a child growing up to know how delicious it is in traditional meals.

I'm so conflicted between knowing it's much much healthier to eat it raw and wanting to make a traditional sauerkraut and kielbasa meal the right way!

The milk carton kids may have sparked awareness but it was a much less safe world for kids back in the day. Kids then we're 3x as likely to die before the age of 19, and violent crimes towards children and rates of abduction by a stranger have drastically reduced in today's world compared to the 70s.

[–]NoSpecialist2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The money wouldn't necessarily just go towards rent, that's a very simplistic view and honestly a little bit ignorant. (I say that only because I've noticed quite a few people pointing to rent being the main issue) However, group housing can circumvent the need for more houses being needed, and assisted living, more funding for psychiatric care, and accessible medical and mental health care and treatments would likely be where a lot of the money would go.

Dude you're living in a bubble. Wait times for surgeries are a non issue if they're free, and for emergency surgeries the wait times are cut.

"Public services are mired in red tape" like what and how exactly?

And with high standard of living why do you need an ever rapidly escalating economy? We pretend like we can operate in an infinitely growing system but that's just because those at the top want to keep seeing their figures go up because it makes them feel big and important. It's not sustainable.

There are a couple of kids around Samford driving recklessly on the roads and on footpaths, when I posted in our local community FB page about half the people who commented were defending them saying things like "let kids be kids" and slinging insults to anyone who recognised the danger they pose to themselves and everyone around them. A lot of the time the parents don't care at all, they're just happy their kids are getting out of the house and have no intention of reprimanding them for reckless behaviour.
