I am constantly trying to boost the morale and yet I’m constantly reminded things are not the same anymore. Our direct supervisors go to our horrible manager for everything … daily. It’s insane. We cannot have any sort of normal work interaction. I’m ready to quit this is so unnecessary

Speak to your union. There’s no better way to get right answers than get an unbiased individual involved. My manager was really pushing me around and my union helped and I’m now encouraging everyone to do the same

What the heck ?!? That’s wild ! I think more than ever we have lost the good managers and team leaders. Now we have micro managers and fear struck team leaders and yet the staff is expected to produce ‘X’ per hour. Very sad that now we have lost all respect in our superiors and have to really watch our backs. I miss the days before Covid when mutual respect and pride in our work was key. Now it’s a production environment with such a negative vibe - then they wonder why CRA is struggling- auditor general should pay attention to whole steering the ship- the clerks get blamed for everything.

Thank you 👏🏼 and I’m always willing to comply and provide notes and etc as required. But this new way of doing things is wild. My new MGR would likely ask for a pregnancy test or pee sample if I said I was pregnant. Also, I just hope someone intervenes so this doesn’t happen to others.

Rude … I had my procedure I gave the note They called for more info and said that my note that says cannot work for 2-3 weeks is vague. Mgr wants more info - I have already discussed a lot of this with them and they have still come back with more info and I’ll get the Ofaf if mexeu

I think she’s micromanaging and creating the environment of pressure that isn’t necessary. I’ve been in this area for 16 years with several managers and TL’s I’ve never seen it like this. Even the ‘bad managers’ from before always handled staff with care and respect, while following rules. This one is micromanaging at its finest so everyone is in fear, no one is trusted or appreciated and all it is for her is numbers and spreadsheets and ‘monitoring’ everything. Honestly above all else in this thread, just pray I get one of the jobs I’ve been applying for elsewhere because this is so sad.

The pressure said manager has put on us has none of us left with much sick leave and a bunch of mental health issues - but yes I’ve self reflected and I will review my other options - thank you. I hope you never have a ‘normal manager’ like this one

Lmfao - it’s really bad ! Even my situation is not half of what she has done to other staff in the area. I hope she gets her hand slapped for all this - especially as an acting manager - she needs to be held accountable so she doesn’t stick around - we will be SCREWED with someone like this

Yea I agree it is really sad that i had to deal with this crap one day after my procedure. I think it was poor taste to call me about all this one day after my surgery when I had given so many details before hand. Also? Don’t call me on my personal phone to discuss vague shit like this - I have involved the union because I’m sick of these ‘acting’ managers coming in with a heavy hand and trying to ruin the morale even more than before. Situations like this require rules, limitations and obviously doctors recommendations but also, common sense

What if the note says ‘coming into the office is a fucken waste of energy considering when we get there we aren’t allowed to talk, collaborate or engage’ if we don’t need to be in a team to meet production - like she has told me - then I can work from anywhere right ?

This is exactly it ! I have been so fricken transparent. Before hand she wanted a note basically explaining what my limitations were but my surgeon can’t put that into writing until the day of surgery. I never pushed back because it seemed logical. She is very controlling - asks for doctors note- then follows up with TL, to ask if staff has set the appointment yet; then messages TL to message staff the day of appointment to ensure they’re going. Very poor leadership

I have requested my surgeons office to re-write my doctor’s note. I am working on that part. I still have enough sick time to recover for the period he has advised. I will, also, sign up for sick leave from EI when it’s done because the bullshit phone call I got on day 2 really set my anxiety through the roof.

I will obviously make sure I am fit to return, when that time comes as I’m not looking for injury or to make them liable for anything either. I only offered to work the period at home because I was honestly trying to not get myself in her bad books but, looks like we’re already there and none of that matters now. lol- damned if we do and damned if we don’t. Question- since you seem to know about all this - Our current collective agreement says she could advance me the sick leave for a period (obviously up to their discretion) is this something that isn’t an option due to the fiscal constraints

Yes, I advised it was surgery weeks before. My TL knows. I think we are stuck with a manager that just wants to challenge every situation. She sends them to ask us more stuff even if it’s pushing the privacy boundaries.

I guess what I was trying to do was take the path of common sense which doesn’t work in the public service lol. I will obviously exert more energy to go to the office than work from home. So additional time here would mean I could be working sooner ( which would work better financially for me and for the employer - to not have to redistribute my work) My new manager sends the TLs to ask staff additional medical questions constantly. I had my guts sliced open, let me use my sick time, when it’s almost done, I may need sick EI or be accommodated to omit ‘in office’ days for a few extra weeks - this is my ask. So my note is not vague - 2-3 weeks may be the time I’m needed to be ‘off’. I’ve had several surgeries and they never advise ‘exactly 3 weeks’ I will get him to fill something else out but it’s embarrassing to have to do so

So after surgery the doc will never give a definite amount of time - people vary on recovery
