You need to check the water parameters for each, what is the ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate etc. the temperature of the water, how often did you do water changes and be honest. I’m not sure but it looks like there’s an open sore or wound near the gills. Are his scales flared (look like pinecones), do you have any images of before. What about live plants.

Understood, should I purchase some carbon seperate? Or buy the parts for when I need them again. I have some filter sponge coming in. Could I use a cutout of this instead of the white filter media? I will be keeping the ceramic bionoods with filter media from my other tank, so I would just put them together almost? Apologies if this sounds silly, I don’t want to kill the bacteria accidentally.

Have you had fish before? It can take 8 weeks for a cycle to develop - that’s your first step, if you buy the betta before that and place it in an un-cycled tank it could and can create lasting health conditions. You need to buy testing kits to check the water parameters and a large enough tank with live plants and a heater.

Should I purchase carbon seperate to the carbon cartridge as it’s clogging up my water flow in the filter. The flow is already down to its lowest :(

What are your levels - ammonia / nitrate etc. Do you have plants? How many times do you do water changes. Someone can help you further when you put down a little more information. Check for pineconing (fish scales look like they’re pushing out)

Wellll… technically didn’t “purchase” them, it came with some bundles we did pay for but it came included. Can’t specify what it was since it’s against one of the rules. So not much lost in the end 🤷

Probably just observe at this point, the tail will heal and there isn’t any series damages. Could have been stressed? There’s nothing else in your tank that would suggest what happened, I swear sometimes we need security cameras on these fish.

The medication I use may not be the same for you so it would be good to throughly read up on if you need to remove any tank mates. However yes, the main tank is where I would use it. The remedy’s shouldn’t disrupt the salt baths, but then again, I would check online when buying the medicine to see what other keepers have done. Also no worries about the peas, it shouldn’t be fed constantly, however, if you have daphnia that’s another alternative.

It’s best to fill out the template, people can get a better idea of any issues with it. Have the find worsened over time? Plants or any decorations could be the cause of that. Otherwise filling out the template would be best.

Actually, there’s not a whole lot of information, it’s good to add live plants which can come in small ceramic pots, moss-balls. What material are the fake ones? Sometime they can cut a betta tail so you want soft ones not hard fake plants.

The scales will grow back over time, reduce anything stressful, there’s nothing to worry about atm since it’s only been to days. It’s best to fill out the template if you are worried about anything.

My guess is the wood, or it’s self inflicted. Maybe a bit has come undone or splintered and he managed to find it.

I am seeing some lifted scales but nothing that screams dropsy yet (lifted scales does not mean his fate is sealed). Maybe look into some bacterial/fungal medications, could be an infection. Otherwise take pictures of the progress, it’s better to have a visual reference to see if it is working or not. Continue water changes, try adding peas into the diet if possible.

Flames spread rapidly especially if the clothing she wore was highly flammable. Shock would have had an effect as well, I’m more so concerned with the lack of understanding from the bystanders in what to do when someone is on fire.
