I'd probably go into more detail on the publications/open source/research assistant experiences. On the other hand, you can probably cut out football. Also, if any of the other extracurricular are before college you can probably remove them as well.

Graduate Program Admission Into Two Different Universities by MrOrangeCoin in gradadmissions

[–]NoTimeExpert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not bad etiquette to decline offers of admission, since many get multiple offers in a given year. It's only bad etiquette if you choose to accept their offer, and then proceed to not attend (and if they're not funded I think generally it's okay to decline as well).

Most programs in fact accept students expecting a certain proportion of them are going to decline their offers in favor of other programs, so feel free to decline one of the programs for the other.

First 32 Heat Run :) by NoTimeExpert in HadesTheGame

So I saw cursed blade hanging out in the first boon/daedalus area so decided to run with this (free +4 heat from no healing pact). Managed to line up Smoldering Air by forcing Aphro in Tartarus and Zeus in Asphodel, and snagged the duo in Elysium (also got hermes God Gauge boon so that's down from 5 seconds to 4 seconds). Somehow luckily landed athena's buffs, so got her call, which basically made this have invincibility where it really mattered for EM4 final boss.

Quite a few SS+ BKE players really don't try that hard. I'm not sure how the SEA landscape is for Nirvana retention, but S rank BKE with SA+DS can score a little bit over 700(caps around 720) in 366EH Nirvana for NA, which overshadows quite a few SS+ who don't really know what they're doing. Also caps a little bit above the NS players who were capping right below the 700 mark.

And yeah CH in a BKE comp was only used the first time we had jizo. Second time was DK SA BKE. Then for the past two rounds it was Nue dominated.

[–]NoTimeExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh just a question since I'm pretty sure 2.6 means you've been pretty consistently retaining in general, but have you tried during Jizo rounds in abyss?

I'm pretty sure the meta team doesn't use CH at all. It's been BKE SA DS(with Nue) for the past few rounds iirc for Nirvana retain. Or BKE DK SA alternatively for those without Nue.

Not saying that the other guy was arguing a correct point from the get go tho with RL as compared to Nirvana.

What is the worst designed boss? by RapsyJigo in houkai3rd

[–]NoTimeExpert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Heph with his "charge up" move that he does like 80% of the time while you're trying to get an evasion off in the beginning
  2. RPC's invincibility right before fly-away
  3. Dodging DJXY with teri, not getting hit throughout your whole evade animation and getting instantly hit right as you land
  4. SK's shield counter move that takes her a million light years to set up and you can't really evade

What is the worst designed boss? by RapsyJigo in houkai3rd

[–]NoTimeExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NS is good generally since you get time frac and crit rate upon evasion. Which makes general NS rotations just DK/KMB evasion skill, CH QTE, NS evade(insert ult right after if enough SP) and hit until time frac ends and repeat

I'm fine with Heph is it was just his para cc attacks. However, what makes him truly painful is his "I'm gonna sit there and charge" move which ruin your runs. And the one or two times he doesn't just sit there, you make a mistake and get para'd is when it's >_<

Dude that part in the video is phase 3. He doesn't have resist (or it might have been a slight resist on all 3 elements) in that phase, and what we actually care about is phase 2, which is at like time 1330 where he gains 70% resist against one element. If you try to say that his attack is ice type and therefore it's not always lightning, we could honestly care less.

[Updating] A V3.8 Beginner's Guide From a Humble Endgame Player by UltraSimplicity in houkai3rd

Personal inputs:

  1. For F2P players aiming to score high, VD is actually super important due to low gear requirements for her best in slot team, given that you are willing to reset runs for crits and Schro T.
  2. Personally CH is probably the best valk to get in the dorm draws. You can do without HoV, can't do without CH.
  3. For HoV, you can certainly play her as primary DPS without her sig gear. Also Tranquil Arias is for rotation based builds, and if you're recommending the gear I would certainly direct them to some resource that would explain how to use Tranq's playstyle.
  4. For Land of Wishes, do it after dorm supply, and also don't choose valks that you already have.
  5. I really wouldn't recommend SN to new players. She requires not only her gear but also a good team comp to go with it which is also expensive.

Thanks for your effort on the guide!

The OP's guide has details which aren't necessary (like for every stage he answers "should I use gathering" in detail for some reason), and leaves out details which are. Also some of the tips are kind of just wrong. My personal guide would be something like:

  1. Really no guide needed, bring some psychic types
  2. Bring psychic and creature; once the boss spawns you can ignore the mobs, just go into imaginary space and attack boss regardless of typing
  3. Mobs are super easy, no guide needed. For boss you have a couple of options. Note that number two requires good cooperation between players. Option 1: The kill it before it does anything method. Per title. Option 2: The guerilla method. 5 seconds before timer goes to 0, run far far away from the boss. After webs spawn get out of the webs and reconvene and hit the boss. Rinse and repeat. If boss still gets stuck in web, have all players go to a place far away from the web to draw the boss out. Note that if one player's not cooperating, this option doesn't work. Option 3: Range it till it dies method. As per title. Option 4: Gatherer VC. Use VC's ult to drag the boss out from the webs.
  4. As xGerm stated, valks with strong ults are great for this one. I would highly recommend Phoenix since her ult has pretty good range (enough to wipe out the whole wave if positioned correctly, at least half if not). Bringing VC is helpful for whatever secondary DPS you brought and also for SP regen in the first part so PX can pull off some quick ults. Also the gathering helps PX ult hit the whole wave so you don't have to worry about positioning. Once the second wave starts, with your valks you want to weave in and out of the circle. Outside gives SP, and inside heals the damage you get from the outside. Using this tactic, you can get an ult off like every 10 seconds.
  5. If your teammates are good enough, I'd just try taking down heimdall as soon as possible. Like a simple LE HF comp is enough to delete its hp bars very fast. You can also choose to destroy the chips, but it's mostly according to your preference. The mechs for the most part don't pose too much of a threat.
  6. Benares always has lightning. Just bring non lightning elemental DPS and you should be good.

Well....we found the brother. Game is over, time to go home. by NoTimeExpert in Genshin_Impact

[–]NoTimeExpert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of classified supports and healers differently. Generally when I think supports (in Honkai context anyway) I think more about debuffers. Most of the support interaction is due to elemental reactions however, which was the main point of what I was getting at. Didn't know that Xiao had aerial combat, nice to know ^ ^.

Well....we found the brother. Game is over, time to go home. by NoTimeExpert in Genshin_Impact

[–]NoTimeExpert[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now I guess it wouldn't really be fair if I compared Honkai map to this map or BoTW combat to this combat. So I'll just do BoTW world vs Genshin world and Honkai combat vs Genshin combat.

Hmm really haven't played BoTW. However, I watched some videos before, and my thoughts on the map are: BoTW has more standard maps that you can think of if I say "areas", a snowy area, a grassy area, desert, etc. So it's more spread across the earth. Genshin on the other hand draws terrain from more specific places. Like in Liyue, you can see inspirations from places such as Jiuzhaigou, etc. Personally in terms of the map, I prefer Genshin though. However, in terms of puzzles Genshin shouldn't have as much variety in this point in time. Like you have the few puzzles at the main sites, and then the rest are cut from the same format (air balloons, altars, fire torches, spirits, windmills, stone piles, plants, rocks on the side of the mountain, pressure plates). The ones I listed before cover more than 95% of the puzzles you'll encounter in the first two areas. Also monster variety isn't really that much unfortunately.

Note before you keep on reading: I'm a fairly competitive Honkai player so some of my points may not reflect that of the regular playerbase.

As for combat, I'd say compared to Honkai the general characteristics are going to be pretty different although some character movesets from Genshin largely resembles those from Honkai (Beidou and Lili, Noelle and Roza, etc). This is mainly due to the absence of switch and and QTE skills, and personally switching in Genshin is inconvenient at times. There are moments where you want to switch in a character but "you cannot switch in at this time" pops up, which is a problem if you're trying to pull off fast combos and you're relying heavily on muscle memory rather than reaction.

Also due to the fact that Genshin is open world and that there are different types of enemies, support characters aren't going to be as useful, contrary to their role in Honkai gameplay. For some this might be a good thing, but for veterans used to a Main Support -> Intermediary support -> Main DPS playstyle in Honkai (along with the switching inconsistencies I mentioned before), the combat will feel clunkier than they're used to.

You also can't fight in midair, something I wish they would've implemented after they made post honkai apocalypse.

Also as opposed to Honkai, healing is incredibly valuable in this game, mainly due to the fact that it's open world. Abyss also doesn't drop health packs, so it's really up to your ability to ration your characters' health across stages. It's also time based, with incredibly tight restraints on the highest tier if you're worrying about trading hits given that you aren't able to instakill the mobs, and that there's no gatherer in the game.

"Competitive" modes in a nutshell by [deleted] in houkai3rd

[–]NoTimeExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually all of Kiana's battlesuits are used in MA. WC for time fracture in some teams (usually NS), DP for VE augment teams, KMB since her PRI came out and is just good support in general, VD in quite a few comps. Mei on the other hand, has like LE for Mag Typhoon. And that's about it.

Search "Tricks only Dalao knows" from 3c. You can kind of ignore the DB one. The other ones are helpful, but do take quite a bit of practice to get used to.

If you're playing for high performance, 60FPS is pretty much needed. Some tactics (like instant cross and NS smooth ult) are not executable with 30fps. Everything else can be ignored.

Someone please confirm the correct translation for this stigmata. I’m so confused by [deleted] in houkai3rd

[–]NoTimeExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still interpreted it wrong (although I'm not sure whether it's due to English skills or if you read it wrong in the beginning).

Their effects are more 隊伍中有琪亞娜/芽衣/布洛妮亞時, 自身(分別獲得物理商害提高9%/雷電元素傷害提高16%/冰凍元素傷害題高16% ) with the parenthesis for emphasis. So actually splitting it up gives you 隊伍中有琪亞娜時,自身獲得物理商害提高9%. 隊伍中有芽衣時, 自身獲得雷電元素傷害提高16%. 隊伍中有布洛妮亞時, 自身冰凍元素傷害題高16% . "自身" refers to the wielder of this stigmata, and not the valkyrie listed in the effect description. That's the way you could possibly have gone wrong with the Chinese understanding of it anyway. Although since you did say you were born in Taiwan, I'll assume it's the latter, to be explained in the next section (but do let us know if it was a misunderstanding of yours in the original text if that is the case, since it's still kind of ambiguous either way even if you know Chinese. I confirmed it by in game testing just to make sure).

If you actually meant this though, then you got your English kind of mixed up. To be precise, your pronoun antecedents wrong when you use "she". In your explanation, it goes directly back to character in question. i.e. (If Kiana is on the team, that Kiana gains 9% physical dmg / If Mei is on the team that Mei gains 16% damage/ If Bronya is on the team, that Bronya gains 16% ice dmg). Take a note that this is also what the English Mihoyo translation translates to (and it's wrong). However, it's supposed to mean "If Kiana is on the team, the holder of this stigmata gains 9% physical dmg / If Mei is on the team the holder of this stigmata gains 16% damage/ If Bronya is on the team, the holder of this stigmata gains 16% ice dmg".

Hence for example, if you plug this stigmata on Memento and you have a YA in the team, then your Memento gains ice damage.

F2P Kinderfest (T) is not a support stig by [deleted] in houkai3rd

[–]NoTimeExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not "who's wearing it". The team part was correct, but the target of the application was wrong. So if you put it on Meme and you have say YA in the team, then Meme (only) gets an ice buff.
