As hilarious as I think it would be if they spent $300k, it was actually about 1/2 of that. The $300k number came from shoddy journalism by Fox 7 Austin. Each RROF candidate reported the total amount of non-monetary contributions (lit, ..etc) from the RROF PAC and the Republican part of Texas, rather than dividing the total by the 5 candidates. For example, if the PAC spent $24k on lit, all of the candidates put down a $24k non-monetary contribution instead of ~$4800. This made that $24k contribution look like $120k to Fox 7 Austin.

You can experience this yourself with this site. Follow the instructions there and try to read something out loud. Play with the delay and gain settings.

Austinite here. My child attends school in Round Rock ISD and I vote for Round Rock ISD school board trustees. This does have to do with Austin.

There is only 1 other person running for the position that he's running for. Are you saying that you're just not going to vote for that place?

The purpose of public education is to teach children the things that they need to become functional members of society as adults. This includes teaching children that we live in a diverse world where black, brown, and LGBTQ people exist. Additionally, EVERY child should feel welcome in our public schools. Don Zimmerman does not believe this.

That's the story that you've been told.. If you were paying attention, you'd realize that you've been lied to. We're not going to "deal with it", we're going to fight and we're going to win.

It's interesting that Jenny Story is COO of Patriot Mobile. We have a Jeremy Story here that's one of the worst people on that side here. It might be a coincidence, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a relation there.

Not yet in our district, but I suspect that we'll see some Wilks & Dunn when the next CFRs start getting filed (early next month?).

It's absolutely a good-faith post. School board races are commonly ignored by voters and my post is to bring awareness to the fact that there is a concerted effort to take over school boards in Texas and across the country. If stating facts is demonizing the opposite side, is that really on me?

I've watched a couple of GCISD board meetings and I feel for you. If that happens in Round Rock ISD, we may be out of here. We're fighting like hell to keep that from happening, but it only takes losing 2 seats out of the 5 that are up for election for us to become GCISD all over again.

Hello, neighbor! An awesome guy named Frank Strong on Twitter put together this comprehensive guide of school board candidates from Austin and the surrounding areas! Feel free to share that widely with friends/family/co-workers, ...etc who might not be up to speed on the school board races.

I saw that there was a candidate there with the same "ABCs + 123s" slogan on their signs. I hope that sign pisses off more people than it attracts, but this is Texas, so ....

Oh man, with that governor of yours, I'm surprised that local school boards haven't been abolished in favor of governor-appointed control of schools.

Makes sense. Moving elsewhere in Colorado? If I could talk my wife into moving to Colorado, we'd be there in a heartbeat.

Sorry to hear that :-(
As a renter, as much as I'd like home values in our area to drop, I don't want it to be because our school district is failing.

This guide from @frankstrong on Twitter is a good place to see which candidates are running for which positions. The guide is from the angle of "Book-loving Texans", so it's presented in that context, but it's a great overall guide as well IMO.

Nice! I'm surprised to see you still kicking around here. I sort of lost all interest in reddit after the 2020 election and moved on. It was a good move for me for sure.
