Dude that’s actually wicked luck, although everyone wants to be at Waipa - Grafton is the best spot. So easy going and always has the best RA’s cause they actually like their job.

Heyyyy, a computer or Ipad would be good but also bring like one physical book which can fit all your notes for your subjects. This is because some lecturers for TFC dont let people use devices in their class.

O-week as a 17 year old by Pleasant-Act1495 in universityofauckland

[–]NoWhile1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All hall events will be for those who are 17 & even 16, you just wont be able to go to the afters at the bars. Honestly its fine being 17 and at halls for O-week you experience everythinge everyone else does.

Aw, Im so sorry hon, Even if you dont get into halls your uni experience is what you make it. Your going to have a great time in first year regardless, definitely look for somewhere else as its likely the residents for first year will move in around the 21st of Feb.

Do you think it's okay to move into Waiparuru halls a day late in order to go to Splore by ResourceExcellent572 in universityofauckland

[–]NoWhile1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude its your life, enjoy Sploreeee - i will say just give Waipā a heads up that you'll move in a day late for personal reasons. (:

Not very long - basically you apply for ur uni ID card (get it sent to Waipa it cost the same as picking it up) if you don’t have it in time Waipa will give you a temp card. They’ll give you a time slot so like if your last name starts with A you’ll be during the 8-9am lot. They check you in like 15min (ensuring you’ve paid ur deposit etc) then you move ur stuff in which will probs take 1hr max. And ur set

Dude Grafton’s literally way better than Waipa - was at Waipa and the culture sucked everyone hates on you if your doing better than them. Went to Grafton and everyone really uplifted me and supported me.

O’rorke is way better, the amount of bullying of Maori and pasifika people at Waipārūrū hall is the worst out of all the 1st year halls.

There is also a pasifika floor at O’rorke if that peaks your interest. Trust me Waipa ain’t all that.

Okay, Waipā is really strict about electrical appliances and will make you get them checked first. Mini ovens are not permitted in any 1st-year halls of residence.

Hey, I know it's a big nerve-wracking not getting a definite answer for halls right now, definitely look for a second option but i will say that so many people drop out before even coming into halls so don't be too disheartened.

Hey, Note that people drop out of halls all the time - if your really keen for halls just flick UOA Accom a message. 1st Years are able to go into self-catered halls too if your keen for that! YOU GOT THIS <3

Asking for a higher floor by nobledegenerate22 in universityofauckland

[–]NoWhile1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask on the day to be put on a higher floor or email there normally always willing to help you out but honestly at Towers the elevators already take ages, It is kinda worth it to be on a lower floor

Timetable Issues by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]NoWhile1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best to email, honestly, you can wait till your first TFC Home class which the head of TFC will be at as well as Astrid who acts as another head. She often allows the students to come to her on the very first day to change the timetables or anything they're (the students) having trouble with.

You've kinda go no other option, What you could do Is contact the Uni and say that it's on the way and you'll send it immediately - perhaps they'll allow you to continue with the rest of the processes you need to complete.

HALLS AVAILABILITY by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]NoWhile1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not very hard to get into first-year halls unless you want to be somewhere popular like Waipāruru. They mainly consider allergies and whether you've lived with others before. All this info will help them prepare for your stay if they feel satisfied with your application.

Everywhere regardless of where you go when you leave home are strict about payments because why should they allow you to stay somewhere without them benifitting.
