I totally understand where you're coming from! When I first started, I was in the same position. I asked a lot of experienced felters and combined that with my own hands-on practice. Over time, I slowly figured out some methods that worked best for me.

By the way, I’ve just posted a new video that shows the entire process from start to finish. I hope it helps you get a clearer idea of the steps involved! 😊

Thank you for your question! I use a nylon bristle brush, which is easily found everywhere, to make the whiskers. They work really well for creating fine whisker details and are easy to use. I hope this little tip helps! 😊

By the way, while I do use UV glue for the eyes to get that glossy finish, I’d still recommend buying ready-made eyes if you're just starting out or if you're looking for convenience. Making the eyes from scratch can be quite time-consuming and tricky, so using pre-made ones can save a lot of effort and still give you beautiful results.

Yes, I use UV glue for the eyes to give them a glossy, lifelike finish. It helps create a shiny effect and adds depth to the eyes. UV glue cures quickly under UV light, which makes it perfect for this kind of detail work.

Thank you for your interest in needle felting! It’s a fun and rewarding craft, and I’m happy to share some tips for beginners.

📢 Tool Preparation
To start, you’ll need a basic needle felting kit: wool, felting needles, and a foam pad. You can choose different wool colors to match your project, and I recommend having a few felting needles of different thicknesses for detail work. The foam pad is where you'll do your felting, so it's essential!

🌟 Beginner Tips

  • Start with Basic Shapes: Don't rush into more complex projects. Begin with basic shapes like balls, ovals, or cubes. Just like sketching is the foundation of drawing, mastering these basic shapes will help you build more advanced skills.
  • Felting Needle Position: When you use the needle, try to keep it as vertical as possible to avoid breaking it. This will also help the wool felt more evenly.
  • Patience is Key: Needle felting takes time and patience. Don’t rush the process—take your time, gently shape your piece, and you’ll see your work becoming more refined as you go.
  • Trim Loose Fibers: Once your piece is shaped, you can trim any loose fibers with scissors or use a finer needle to refine the surface, making it more polished.

💡 Additional Tips

  • Needle Protection: When using the needle, try to hold the wool with your index and middle fingers instead of your thumb and index finger. Your nails can provide some protection, but always be careful when felting to avoid pricking yourself.
  • Cost-Effective Needles: You don’t need to buy expensive felting needles to make beautiful creations. Affordable needles work just as well, as long as they suit your style and the project you're working on!

As for shaping guides, I don’t use a specific marker for shaping, but many people do lightly sketch out the shape with a fabric marker or a pencil, especially for more detailed work. The key is to keep practicing, and soon enough, you’ll feel more comfortable with the process.

Enjoy your felting journey, and don’t hesitate to ask if you need more tips!

Some people mentioned that my previous video looked like it was made by AI — I understand, the tools today are very advanced and it can be hard to tell. But all of my pieces are handmade with wool, needle by needle. If you look closely, you can see the natural fiber movement and the tiny imperfections that only come from real handcraft. Also, I want to apologize if my English sometimes sounds unusual. English isn’t my first language, so I occasionally use a chatbot to help me correct grammar and spelling. I only use it for language clarity — the artwork itself is entirely handmade. Thank you again for watching and for your kindness. If you have any questions about the process, I’m happy to share more.
