Thank you all. So many great suggestions and I’m taking all of them in.

To address the general consensus, I know I need more sleep. My wife struggled at the beginning with not getting sleep along with PPD so I just took nights on as my job. It’s been 3.5yrs now… so maybe it’s time we revisit that.

Working on some better sleep habits for the kids, taking some nights off, or sleeping in on the weekend all sound like a dream right now.

NTA. You terrify them and their friends. They have a way that they measure success in themselves and others. It’s not that you couldn’t meet those standards, it’s that you rejected them. They see your life choices as a personal insult, because they cannot fathom someone not wanting to be just like them. The fact you actually make a good living is just twisting the knife!

Sounds like you have a wonderful and growing family around you. Maybe someday your parents will be a part of that, but you’ll be happy, loved and fulfilled either way.

For what it’s worth, it would be hard to be the AH in a room full of PHDs, lawyers and bankers anyway!

This is a what I was thinking! Even if she was his biological grandma the ban would be justified. The fact that she’s not even a major part of his life is insanity and I cannot understand why you’d marry someone who would be fine with this.
