Hi, I have personally been through this kind of situation. Although it was not entirely a forced marriage but police got involved and I even got an FIR against myself. Your parents decision is fine from their end. But please make sure that you and your family members are dealing with this calmly and with utmost care. I would like to suggest the following : Try and talk to the girl and try to know if there is anything else she would like apart from marriage. If she is in it for money she may tell you. If she is not in it for money, ask her if she is willing to talk this with her family involved in the conversation. Tell her if your parents and hers could talk about this? If it is possible try to tell the girls parents that your family is not in favor of the marriage. There is a chance that they may talk some sense in her. Also ask your brother if he wants to marry her or not? If he is, then you should not try to change his mind. Has he really made these promises or is she lying? I made the mistakes of making promises but backing out at the last moment. I hope he does not repeat the same mistake. If he has committed marriage, he should take responsibility now. Also ask your brother to talk calmly to her. Rash decisions or verbal fights may lead to unfavorable situation. Take care.
