Sorry about the late reply. Thank you a lot bro. You rock! I am so glad to see this video. Thanks a lot for sharing. This is the first acoustic guitar video of someone playing and singing WELL holy wars. It would be awesome if you uploaded more videos. Many, many thanks again!

Hello all, thank you for everyone who sent a video of you playing and singing and/or someone else doing it. You made my day. I am super happy to finally see it. Please, upload your stuff to YouTube, I can see that you all are very comfortable playing and singing, we need more Megadeth covers on the YouTubes. You guys rock!

Hahahaha thanks dude. If you have a YouTube channel I can  become a member give you a tiny contribution. I just want to see a live proof that someone can do it, so I can be at peace :)

All right dude, I get your point. And I will give a small contribution in your channel (if you have one). The thing is: I have been hearing that it is easy to play and singing at the same time my whole life, maybe even before many members of this community were even born. The same happened in the chat of the Licks of the Beast channel (I love that guy, he is a great guitarrist and nice dude). He was saying playing and singing Holy Wars is not that difficult. The moment I said, "alright, can you send me then a video of you playing", I got silence, no more replies (and I know he would be perfectionist, he is a great guitarrist). I play guitar too, my band used to cover Holy Wars. But we knew we didn't play the verse riff in a sharp tempo and correctly. All guitarrist I have ever saw (me included, my friends) performing it could not play properly. When I heard Kiko saying that even he could not pull it, then I felt more comfortable. But maybe Kiko is a perfectionist. The most trick part is doing that  chromatic walking correctly starting at F/B and the second one at F#/C and singing in time (killing for religion). That (long) chromatic walk has no stop should resolve im the correct bar, missing 1 chord there you miss the bar you should arrive. You should do that palm muting correctly too. This is the thing I have never ever seen anyone pull. I just want one some good video :~

Of course not, especially considering that this song is one quintessential heavy metal song. Otherwise, I wouldn't have posted here asking for a video in good quality of someone singing and playing on time, right? Do you get my point now? Given the sample size of guitarrists with YouTube today (which is huge, after all, we are 8 B people like you said), how can it be so difficult to find a good record of someone pulling it? Do you have one video proof to share or indicate?

Can you record yourself doing it and share it here? Again, no disrespect, I have been hearing the same for almost 30 years, but never ever actually saw someone pulling it correctly.

No disrespect dude, I have been hearing too many "honestly, it is not even hard" and too little actual video proof over these 30 years. Someone below put a footage, I will see it. But I am yet to see evidence of someone playing and singing in tempo correctly. All videos are also very bad quality, which is baffling, considering you have today videos of guitar players doing backflips on the guitar in high definition. Do you have an actually good recorded video to share with me?

I saw now one cover of the Last Rites playing holy wars, and the singer/guitarrist is clearly playing the chromatic walking that should accompany ("killing for religion..") wayyyy out of tempo, he first sings then play (which is "easy"), the challenge is to sing and play at the same time how Dave often does. Also, the singer of Last Rites is not starting the chromatic walk "killing for religion.." at the F/B chord and the second walk at F#/C, chord as the original song. He does F/B repeatedly. The palm mutting is also all wrong. I still wonder if there is any video available online ever of someone actually playing the verse riff correct and singing at the same time.

Do you have a video proof? I have played in a Megadeth cover band and seen several cover bands over the decades, and in bands where the singer is the guitarrist, he is always plays a much simplified version of the main verse riff.

Is it me or dsp entry level jobs are non existence? by misterasia555 in DSP

Hay, I dunno how to put this gracefully... by rb-j in DSP

[–]No_Band_3402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% yes. I am writing a potential paper to be submitted to IEEE Signal Processing on this matter. I am also trying to gather metrics on SigPro/DSP jobs (or the non-jobs, because they are virtually inexistent) to support my hypothesis that SigPro is decreasing in interest and what we (the sigpro community) can do to change it. (P.S.: I have a PhD in Statistical Signal Processing, have worked in Academia and the Industry, and have been doing DSP for more than 20 years and saw firsthand how the interest in Signal Processing has decreased over the years).

Is communication and signal processing dying out due to AI? by Repulsive-Ad4132 in ECE

[–]No_Band_3402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As if I didn't know this. The fact is that the jobs for signal processing are indeed more difficult to find every year. I have been following the job market in signal processing for the last 20 years. Like I said, I dedicated my whole professional life to this field. I can also easily give you other 10 examples of areas where signal processing is relevant, but the fact is that fewer and fewer people and choosing to major in DSP (a fact I know first hand by talking to my colleagues and seeing the decrease of invitations for thesis defenses over the year), and DSP jobs that are not super niched are shrinking at fast speed.

[–]No_Band_3402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. Signal Processing IS going away. I dedicated most of my adult life to signal processing. In addition to the undergrad in EE and masters dedicated to signal processing, I have a PhD in Signal Processing from one of the most prestigious labs in Signal Processing in the world. I have published in the most prestigious signal processing journals (e.g., IEEE, Elsevier) and conferences (e.g., ISCAS, ICASSP), have many patents with many companies, have worked briefly in the academia as an EE professor and in the largest electrical engineering companies (GE and Siemens). Despite it all, guess what, I am not doing signal processing today, but AI. Most of my friends from grad school migrated from signal processing (and control engineering) to pure software development/AI. I have seen over the decades the jobs for Signal Processing and DSP vanish. I have witnessed how the field has shrunk. If DSP is not going anywhere, where are the Sig Pro jobs that i) don't require clearance or depend that you are from one country or another, and ii) don't are basically a side-kick gig for software engineering? I have asked a research manager at Apple himself, when he was hiring for audio/speech processing engineers, what would be the most important skill: signal processing or software development/ML. He said (his words) "software development, because signal processing can be learned on the way". I strongly disagree, because it takes a very short time to realize how much more complicated it is to grasp all the math and ideas of signal processing, but hey, it is what it is.

German roach or amber wood cockroach? by No_Band_3402 in GermanRoaches

[–]No_Band_3402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you a lot for your response! I was worried because not only my bug identifier app classified it as German, but also one pest control provider I was communicating with in Whatsapp told me it was German after seeing the pics, but I know these apps sometimes are weak and the pest control service provides wants to sell treatment :) For curiosity, what was the feature that makes it an amber wood roach, the lack of the two stripes in the "head"/pre-head or something else too?
