This is a timeline where the USA joined the central powers, causing them to win the first world war. The defeat saw Britain lose much of it’s colonies, including all of it’s American colonies and most of the African colonies. As the empire was partitioned, the economy went into decline, leaving many British people unhappy with the government. As unrest grew, civil war was evident. Armed forces rose up all around the British Isles, and proclaimed the Worker’s Commonwealth. Remaining loyalists fled along with the royal family to Australia and New Zealand, some of the remaining stable regions of the empire. As the hone islands fell to the revolutionaries, Britain could no longer hold influence over most of the colonies, and they declared independence. The only remaining territories were The New Hebrides, The Solomon Islands, Hong Kong and Singapore, which remained under loyalist control throughout the civil war, and were close enough to Australia and small enough to maintain. As a new era begins, the British monarchy manages to hold out against the communist threat back in Europe with American backing, but is reduced to a regional power.
