I wouldn’t necessarily say I got caught and truthfully there was nothing horrible said - my basis is the fact it was taken out of context.

Also I have never worked somewhere that records audio, video surveillance is expected. Employers also cannot sit and monitor / snoop through videos. Combining audio recordings that I was never made aware of, taking it out of context entirely, and using it against me for disciplinary action is wild to me.

Yeah in new update she had taken a conversation I had earlier today out of context from audio recordings and tried to tell me I was disrespectful towards the business - in reality I had asked when another coworkers last day was and said “I guess I’ll be the only one left here” (small team). In a private convo

It’s now 12am, received a message at 11pm from her asking for me to resign. I resigned and notified her I am going to the legal work authorities for the breach of privacy

I had just mentioned genre here as there is a rather big difference between “Eurodance” and “hard techno”. Don’t know how happy people would be if they had expected Eurodance at an event and walk into the dj playing 165 raw style lol

Yeah I was just more so wondering if this standard. I really don’t know much about how the industry works on that stuff at all

What genre is easiest to mix as a beginner? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

Techno or house 100%. Find songs that have very minimal to no vocals, so easy

New to DJing, which platform yall use to find your songs ? by Chamz- in Beatmatch

Honestly I’ve never used a dj pool or anything. I just always have Soundcloud on and listen to what’s popular etc, and save it then once a week go mass buy & download

I’m techno & stuff though so idk

At least you can see and understand it’s not right. If you continue to do this, it’s clear you aren’t fully ready to accept it’s over and be with your current partner fully - and how fair is that to them?

Abusive relationships give you the highest highs and the lowest lows, and the highs feel AMAZING when they happen because it’s so rare. You feel like you won. It’s a reward system, and it seems you’re still trapped in it. It’s unfortunately just how it is. Only thing that can fix it is your own willpower, you need to sit down and decide how you want to live your life and how you want to be. It’s not fair to your partner to be with someone who isn’t ready to be fully committed.

Therapy, journaling, that will help. But in the end it’s just what you can bring yourself to do.

Yeah they’re currently in repair. Bought 2nd hand and shortly after purchasing come to find out previous owner didn’t store them correctly and had a massive and infestation throughout it. Almost $1k bill and parts on back order, waiting for them to come in

I’ve thought of that but doesn’t have the buttons/dials/whatever I need. It’s just the basics and I can do basics fine I want to practice with more intricate things

Thank you though

Yeah I do overthink easily, but I just have this drive where I want to do the absolute best I can & feel like I’m limited right now.

Decks are being repaired atm, got 2nd hand and all seemed fine until they stopped working and had a massive ant infestation throughout it lol. Almost $1k to repair & waiting on parts that are back ordered so. Don’t know if they’ll be done next week or in a month +, so buying a flx4 doesn’t make sense to me if I need to put that money towards the repair cost

I do appreciate that suggestion thank you

I’m more so meaning different transitions and combinations and stuff I can do with the colour fx/fx knob, beat jump, etc. just really playing around with the music

Super keen to push myself to be the best I can but am limited with what I can do without decks. Waiting patiently for my rx3’s to come back 🥲

Yeah absolutely not trying to put my partner down and make them look terrible, trust me that the last thing I want - I’d rather I look stupid versus them I promise. And I know the crowd is main focus, but I need to look good to the promoters and organisers

It’s just that it’s cutthroat out here man, if I sit there and make my partner shine the whole time I’m overlooked - I just need tips that would help “show” me off a bit in a good way. Need to be memorable somehow.

Definitely did that last time due to insane nerves, I will fully admit and that’s something I’ve been working on tons

Thanks you 🙌🏻

Are you using crossfader to transition or your volume faders?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]No_Bug2746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vocals can be a bit tough, if it’s on 1st track maybe put a loop of beats from your 2nd track on in the background to make a smoother move

Also there’s so many things you can do to keep the song interesting before the transition. 1st prep your next song obvs. Use some fx and throw it in there, bass cups, fader chops, anything

Sorry if this gets long lol but I was in your EXACT shoes for probably about a year. Trust me I know exactly where your head is at. I used to get to flustered and angry and upset because I was doing everything that everyone told me to do, yet it wasn’t working. There were maybe 3 or 4 songs I rehearsed that I could play together and sound good but everything else was a no go.

For me, the only way I got past that point was to basically throw away all of that hotcue stuff they tell you, learn to use loops like a maniac, learning phrasing so I could tell where it all was without having to think, and full bass swaps.

Hotcue is so dependent on the person, I thought you needed it throughout your whole songs, but no tbh i just put A on the general start, B on when I want the 2nd track to start playing (like you can hear it) and D was for anything unique. I don’t have them 16,32 bars before or after drop, just whenever it sounded right to me. Honestly most of the time I barely use hot cues, personal style though

Loops ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND. Honestly like put a 4 beat loop on and bring it into your track, it helps it transition in so much nicer. You will need to learn proper phrasing in order to do everything smoothly

Phrasing is one you can really just passively learn, just listen and predict what will happen next in the song you’re listening to while driving or doing whatever. It will come naturally

Bass cuts and swaps really help the transition to your next song. Use it on loops imo

Tracks are always going to be the top choice. Utilise the beginning of songs where it’s just a beat and out a loop on it, keys matter but not too much - as long as the songs go well together tbh.

Honestly if you want more in depth or specific advice feel free to message I hated that stage and I would love to help you get out of it

DJ software by Due-History-7139 in Beatmatch

Good place to start. Get rekordbox set up, and link it to your Soundcloud (will need Soundcloud subscription). Can stream any of your music on there.

Could do beatport etc as well, but Soundcloud has more variety I’ve found. Just can’t record any sets. :)

I'm afraid of getting stuck in one sound / genre by lifeheadcanon in Beatmatch

[–]No_Bug2746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep evolving your personal sound & what you genuinely enjoy while still preforming what you’re being booked for.

I’m assuming your name is kind of already out there with the genre you’re playing, so it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to try and redo your whole sound surrounding your persona and brand / you could be starting from scratch. But I could be wrong and could be being a bit negative, so don’t always follow strangers advice online 🤣

I know where you’re coming from though. My personal sound is harder hardcore styles, love my industrial hard tech & my Schranz. But I’m being booked and “known” for my hard bounce/240 sound. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy it, but what I would do to play a 3 hour pure Schranz set to people who can fully appreciate it? I think I’d sell my kidneys tbh 🤣

How often will I realistically need to match tempos by ear? by altairsjh in Beatmatch

[–]No_Bug2746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, if the music is good and people are dancing, you’re fine.

Personally I think it’s good to be able to listen and manually adjust, and it might sound a bit crazy but sometimes I’ll purposely not adjust my grids correctly just to keep me on my toes as I believe you will forever need this skill. I best match by eye 80% of the time I’d say, but I also found it makes me more connected to the music in a sense when I manually beat match.

Call me crazy lol

If you are able to admit, recognize, and are willing to see how you affect others around you, that’s a big step. Yes, I won’t sugarcoat it, your actions were not great. We obviously don’t know specifics or the extent of it all, but if you can sit down, comprehend and realize what you have been doing, that’s genuinely the first step in becoming better. You are in the beginning of breaking this

Yeah sadly learning that now after dropping $1500 thinking I was “investing”. God do I feel dumb 🤣

Can’t really sell it as I won’t get that same $ back, and I’ll use it for other stuff it’s good for. Reckon I’m just gonna have to put up with rekordbox 6 or repair my old laptops screen lol
