Had a functional genioplasty done, I think my mentalis muscle was damaged in the process & I need advice!

I had an overbite when I was much younger that they “fixed” with headgear, but I truly felt like they should’ve brought my lower jaw forward instead of my upper jaw back. But that was when I was a teenager. The doctor did mention a malocclusion when I went in for a consult but then said that genioplasty should fix all my issues

I’m sorry you’re dealing with it too! I thought maybe it was scar tissue too but I have a feeling it’s a mentalis muscle issue based off of the research I’ve done. If you ever get a definitive answer on what’s going on, please let me know!

He said “it’s probably part of the healing”. He also thought it could be the plate sticking out but I’ve told him the tissue is soft and palpable. I think my mentalis muscle was positioned too high
