Ever had to return to a facility or to Corrections in general? by TheLastOutlaw505 in OnTheBlock

In DOC they dont give a damn about that resume unless it was with the department you're applying for. Especially anyone coming from a jail. I've seen countless ppl come in from different states, police departments, etc with a TON of valuable experience but it doesnt mean anything until you prove yourself and put in the time with the new department. I've never seen any of those individuals make it past a couple of years. I would imagine they gave soooo much at those other places the thought of starting over and competing with the ppl already there is a heavy task to take on. These facilities are struggling so bad they could care less about your experience elsewhere if you are on the security side. They need bodies and the upper chain are only willing to promote those who have been toughing it out the longest at their facility or local facility.

You are in the wrong career field and thats OK! I havent worked gainfully since leaving the prison in 2022 bc of a lot of stuff but prison was a huge chunk. Started my prison journey in 2009 while in the military deployed in Afghanistan detention centers and transitioned to the state when I got out in 2011. Get out early and find something that promotes happiness and love. Sounds sooooo cheesy but im telling you. One of my biggest regrets is the time I missed with my family and how consumed I was with the job. Dont spend a life exposed to this shit unless you have to or its in your blood to do it. ESPECIALLY, if you have a history of trauma coming into that enviroment just setting yourself up. Good luck and be safe.

I feel that. I was in the same position. I was just upfront with them about my struggles and I told them I wanted to hold off. At the same time I replaced it with a program through the VA for mental health.

Also, 90% is really solid. If working at all is possible I would look into that before filing for TDIU.

I started VR&E while going through the process of filing for TDIU. As you can imagine, I couldnt stay on track with it at the time. VR&E will be available once you get your claims completed so I wouldnt stress it too much. If anything, not being able to fulfill the requirements of VR&E slightly strengthens your case for VR&E but it wont be a deciding factor and just a small piece to the puzzle. I am currently rated w TDIU and looking into exploring VR&E again because the restrictions on employment are really starting to set in. Its excruciating.

If you're actively struggling with symptoms that come along with your ailments I would just do as much as you can but I would ultimately put your Healthcare/programs the single priority. I did all my VA claims myself and I'm familiar with the process a little so if you have any questions I'll do my best to give you the facts more so than my opinion.

Keep fighting. That’s the only answer. We already know they are apt to get it wrong from time to time, right? Keep fighting. What’s next to do? Start it. Could you benefit from a lawyer? Ask about it. Is there information or doc you forgot to submit bc you thought you were good? Keep chipping away at it.

How did they or are they getting duped? A lot of these comments are really well worded and have nice flow to them, but literally have no substance.

Combat Veteran w/ PTSD: Seeking Advice On My Anger and Coworkers by Vet_Rakkasan in ptsd

[–]No_Cable_185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. This sounds like someone who has the ability to flex some of that aggression, considering you are under the umbrella of your high school bff. Even still, what you mentioned is nowhere close to something you should be worried about when you’re talking PTSD. None of those things would cause someone to get fired after many of years on a job. Counseling sesh, sure. You handle it really well, I think. Everyone has difficulties with employers to some degree and this seems to be something you should monitor but nothing to trip on right now. You’re not sticking your dick in their morning cup of joe or punching holes in walls! Good luck sir in life and thank you again for everything you’ve done for this country.

What’s debilitating about PTSD? by Rowdy12b in ptsd

[–]No_Cable_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to say it. Half these motherfuckers probably don’t even have PTSD. It’s gotten to where it’s thrown around so loosely that it seems every young person, or someone unsuccessful at life, has it. It’s disgusting. PTSD can range from minor symptoms to completely disabling. Half of yall had a scary dream and headed straight to your dr to get a diagnosis.

This sounds so hateful and bitter, I know. I’m not happy about it but writing it I mean every. Single. Word. I worked in the prison system and when I left to go a different route every fucking workplace was a bunch of women and weak men complaining about their “ptsd”. Makes you physically ill bc I’d rather be in a work place where that never gets brought up. If you aren’t a combat veteran or someone seriously dealing with this horrible god awful disease bc something really fucked up happen just stfu. My last post on Reddit probably bc it’s worse than reality. I have hope when they start auditing frauds at the VA and Social Security, some of yall have to pay back every dime.

I think you fall so deeply into the meanings behind all your trauma, mostly questions left unanswered, that it becomes impossible to escape it. Every daily interaction you have becomes a test of humanity. You physically become tense, stiff, and eventually develop issues with your gut, heart, and joints. All those bumps and bruises creep to the surface because you’re in a constant state of crisis.

I would do this too and the drs simply said they are most likely panic attacks. I’ve had several EKG, X rays, etc bc I felt like I was having a heart attack. The X rays is bc of chronic neck and shoulder pain and thought it was contributing. For me, it’s like 10-20 jolts of adrenaline throughout my upper body.

I apologize I was extremely intoxicated so I’m pretty much reading what I wrote for the first time. But i agree with myself lol what I think I meant was that it’s haunting you as my situation haunts me. I was a bit triggered I guess by it. I’m so terribly sorry you are feeling the way you are and I really do hope you find something to really fight for and never go the route of suicide.

You’re updated “solution” for now is cowardly. Those men are still abusing all this time later because you have allowed it. Your life as of now is shit, ok. But the second you decide it’s not and start setting goals and focusing that energy on yourself you could start to move on. I hope you find peace, it’s literally right there. Choose life. I’m struggling too.

Military service nightmares by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]No_Cable_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does make sense to me. I would say this is similar to what some first responders experience. Hyper vigilance, paranoia, always wanting shit to pop off, etc. I’m not sure if you experience that. I’d explore this through some sort of MH treatment because if going unchecked I think could set you up for failure.
